Old and broken
The gym in Bangor Co Down is very tired and unclean. Many of the machines are out of order or unsafe. Management still promote a refurb, โcustomersโ as they have recently been referred to as recently are voting with their feet. Too many other better gyms locally

Brilliant wonderful efficient couldnโt be happier

Class booking
Easy to book but there needs to be more planning so that if a PT canโt make it, there is cover. Sometimes you get the email of cancellation for early classes when youโve already arrived

Regarding OP Southport
Cancellation and finishing group classes and laying off professional proactive instructor with only days notice then talks regarding increasing membership as a thanks ๐คทโโ๏ธ
We are a large group of loyal customers โ in excess of 1000 members โ of Everlast Gym in Southport. Many of us have been members for almost 25 years, and we have recently become aware of the decision to dispense with gym classes and loyal, experienced gym instructors.
We are writing to ask that you reconsider this decision and, importantly, look beyond the immediate financial or operational considerations to understand the wider impact this will have on the physical, mental and social wellbeing of your members.
Southport has a diverse population, including a significant number of older and retired residents who rely heavily on familiarity, accessibility and community connection. However, this issue is by no means limited to retirement-age members.
Group exercise and the relationships developed with instructors are hugely important to people of all ages and abilities. For some, attending a class is the motivation that gets them through the doors. For others, it provides structure, friendship, confidence, accountability and a sense of belonging, alongside the obvious physical health benefits.
The relationship between an instructor and their members should not be underestimated. Over many years, instructors get to know their members,
understand their abilities and limitations, recognise when someone may be struggling and provide encouragement, reassurance and motivation. These relationships are built on trust and cannot simply be replaced by equipment, an app or an alternative class with an unfamiliar instructor.
For many members, their instructor is an integral part of their wellbeing journey โ helping them to remain active, confident and connected. Removing these familiar faces and established classes risks having consequences that extend far beyond the gym floor.
Everlast has, throughout the years, played an important role in helping local residents maintain both their physical and mental health, while also providing a valuable
sense of community. At a time when there is increasing awareness of loneliness, mental health, inactivity and the importance of preventative health, we believe this role is more important than ever.
As key stakeholders and loyal members, we are therefore asking Everlast to take a broader view of the impact this decision will have on the entire membership and the wider Southport community.
We strongly believe there is an opportunity to work together to find a solution that protects the important instructor/member relationships and preserves the group exercise provision that so many people rely upon โ regardless of their age.
We would be very willing to meet with you to discuss our concerns, explore
alternative options and consider how Everlast can continue to best serve the health and wellbeing of its community.
We sincerely hope that you will take this opportunity to listen to your loyal members, recognise the true value of your instructors and reconsider the current decision.
