Extremely disappointed, especially for streaming
I’ve been using ExpressVPN for quite some time and subscribed primarily because I needed reliable access to JioHotstar while outside India. Unfortunately, the service has become increasingly unreliable for this purpose.
Lately, when trying to use JioHotstar through ExpressVPN, I’m getting the message:
“Device logged out — Device has been blocked for 24hrs due to malicious activity detected on the device.”
This is particularly frustrating because I’m a legitimate paying subscriber to both services, and accessing JioHotstar was one of the main reasons I purchased ExpressVPN in the first place.
What is disappointing is that ExpressVPN markets itself as a reliable VPN for accessing content while travelling, yet I’m now repeatedly facing problems with one of the services I specifically subscribed to use. Changing servers and reconnecting the VPN has not provided a dependable solution.
I understand that streaming platforms continually update their VPN detection systems, but that shouldn’t leave paying ExpressVPN customers with a service that no longer works reliably for a key use case.
I would expect ExpressVPN to be much more proactive about addressing compatibility with major streaming services and, at the very least, provide clear guidance to customers when a service is being blocked.
ExpressVPN has otherwise been good, but if JioHotstar access was one of the main reasons for subscribing, the current experience is extremely disappointing. I hope ExpressVPN takes this seriously and provides a reliable solution rather than simply asking customers to keep changing servers.
Please fix this.
