Love it !! Easy way to track of my heelers when they wonder out in the desert.
Forces precise location (of you) at all times
Useless if your main interest is the geofencing feature. This app requires you to report your OWN location 24/7 with high precision. Tractive manages to let its users explore the app features without sending out a beacon. I got this to determine if my pet is leaving a certain area, not away from my iPhone. Horrible privacy policy.

Failure
I have had Fi for a while. I have paid them hundreds of dollars. The collars will not hold a charge for longer than a week. They are claiming it’s my WiFi. They are not being helpful. I’ve gone back and forth with this. I just want to make sure my dogs are trackable, and this company is just straight up robbing me.

No service, no tracking, do not buy!!
We went for a 5 mile hike in the wilderness, plus camping for a night. We were out of service for less than 24 hours. This collar requires that you leave the app running and have Bluetooth on. We did a very large hike and none of it was recorded and we spent a lot of time trying to pull it from the server. The goal was to not be on my phone so much, even though I had it on me, I would absolutely not recommend for adventures. My Bluetooth was on, but I hadn’t been meticulously opening the app to check its status. I do not want to be checking my phone the way this app requires while trying to enjoy nature. I have the location set to always, why is this not enough??
It doesn’t track well, and even on hikes with service and in the city, lost mode only gives an approximate location, and I’m better off listening for my pup than walking around where this app tells me to go.
There needs to be a feature to manually upload activities. My watch perfectly recorded the hike, and it would be appropriate to be able to transfer that onto her app/device, even if the steps weren’t 100% accurate, it would be something.
The hikes we have gone on with spotty service seem to do a better job tracking her steps, but think we went on like 6 segmented walks instead of one continuous hike. —so it’s not like the tracking location data would be right even with automatic uploads. Sometimes I get notifications she has left the safe zone when she’s still at home, and other times it doesn’t pick up we’ve left.
I think this app needs a lot of work. For starters, manual adds of activities, and also much better tracking systems. I would not recommend this app for people who are adventurous with their pups.

Tracking unacceptable
As other users noted, Fi app requires location tracking to be set to Always to work. This makes no sense and is either a bug or Fi is somehow monetizing the data. Either way unacceptable.
Great app and service
Works great! Super happy it works everywhere in Canada. That was the deciding factor for me, plus the ruggedness of it. Wish the metal collar connecting didn’t catch and pull out my dog’s hairs. Had to buy a 3rd party collar for it. Also, wish opening the app didn’t make Apple Music pause playing music — the Fi app shouldn’t need to take over media playback every time just because it’s opened. Other than those quirks, it’s great and provides me with peace of mind, because my dog is a bit of an escape artist.

Problems after update
After a software update, the application deleted the profile, and no longer could pair the device. Canceling after all this.
Best GPS tracker ever!
I live on 18 acres and it’s mostly woods and pines, I use FiNano for microchipping mostly due to me being a breeder but these FI Minis are the literal best when it comes to narrowing down where my dogs are! And I love it tracks literally everything, even down to when they are excessively licking or drinking!

Broken App. Please Fix
Something changed with an update because it won’t even allow you in the app unless you select to ‘always’ allow location permissions rather than ‘only when using the app’. Never used to be that way so please fix this or will just cancel. Great product but should allow the option to work even if location permissions are off or only when using app. Until they fix this the App is garbage.

Battery life
Not as described. It only lasts 1 week, not 3 months as stated

Every time my dog leaves the safe zone by himself it never tells me. And lost mode doesn’t work all it says is reconnecting. Consider other options before buying this one’s not it
Can’t open the app without setting location to ‘Always’
This is a jacked up way to push this app. While I do the features, not being able to access the app AT ALL without setting location to ‘ALWAYS’ as opposed to ‘While Using’ is suspect!
Dog or people tracker
Why do I have to have my phone tracked to use the app? Just let me track when Im using the app instead of blocking my access until I share my location.

Awesome better than advertised
Don’t bother
Advertises 3 month battery life. I can only get a few days. When I use the lost mode, it will only update their position after several minutes. As I wrote this, it hasn’t updated in over an hour. The base constantly disconnects itself from Wi-Fi. Yes, it wants to work primarily on Wi-Fi, not gps. And it is only accurate to about a 50 yard radius. Which is fine in open areas, but not where there is cover.

Glitches randomly
Whenever I track my pet, sometimes it will track them into a random field and not where they actually are. Freaks us out!

Enjoying Fi Dog Tracker
I am enjoying the Fi GPS dog tracker smart dog collar. I wish it was more “girly” and cute but it works for me! Daisy loves her collar! It tracks her steps very well! I have no complaints.
