Started out good
We live in the country on a 32 acre farm. After having this collar for a while it went down hill fast. Started having problems after the first 4 months. Collar kept going offline. Did all the tests to see what was wrong. Support said we needed to add another base to help cover more area. So I purchased another one. Seemed okay for a while then again same thing happened, collate going off line a lot again. Did all the tests again. Support said the collar side was bad so they sent a new piece for the collar and said we are upgrading you for free. One year rolls around time to pay the yearly subscription, the upgrade definitely wasn’t free I was charged for the next highest price. That was pretty upsetting. Now year and a half later collar goes offline every day for hours, location of our dog isn’t even close to correct and the battery life only last a couple days at most. Told support to cancel my subscription we are fed up with the service and I wanted to be reimbursed for the 7 months I have left and of course they don’t do that. They’re many other dog tracking devices out there to use. Save yourself the time, money and headaches and choose a different gps collar for your dogs. I would give this zero starts if I could.

Good job but it requires too much data
It does what it says it’ll do, it’s just that is has an unrealistic and inconvenient amount of setup and asks for a lot of personal info and for weird unnecessary permissions from your phone
Not good
This app forces you to allow it to access your location ALWAYS not just WHILE USING THE APP. The actual tracker fell out of the rubber holder on my dog collar and was lost. I also have had issues trying to cancel my subscription and remove my payment method. Terrible experience!!

i’ve had this tracker for my cat for a couple days. Right off the bat the tracking is not as accurate as they make it seem. It takes a few minutes to reconnect which is frustrating because they pitch it as “live”. also, it would be cool in the future if they added an option to make the device chime if your pet goes missing. Maybe in the next upgrade, they will!

Can't be used without ALWAYS location.

App Great / Product Great / MANDATORY Tracking Always On SUCKS
Love the app, pretty accurate tech as far as location and mapping, love the “pet left the property” notifications, only have to charge every other week or so and I think the collar is 2 years old.
HOWEVER, at some point a while back, they made it so you can’t use the app unless tracking is set to “always on.” Literally, even if set to only “allow while I use the app,” it makes you go to settings and enable “always on” access just to open the app, and of course you want the high accuracy/higher energy usage location mode when you are using the app.
So, if you don’t want them using your battery and data plan to be tracking you all the time, and then likely selling that data off (I don’t care if they say they don’t do it now, we know how that always goes with time), you have to go through and toggle your phone app settings before AND after every usage.
Enough frustration that this otherwise 5 star product gets a 2. I highly encourage everyone to see if this is the case with the competition before surrendering to this mandatory surveillance nonsense.

Lifesaver
Love this app. It’s a lifesaver and the only way I give my deaf Great Pyrenees freedom to do her job. I have the collars for all 4 of my dogs and could not be happier about accuracy and freedom it gives us!
Too intrusive
Too intrusive about the owner. I want my dog tracked - not me! If you turn off motion tracking, the whole app freezes. Yellow blankness. (I don’t car if my dog is in a car or walking - why should the whole app die for that??) Turn location tracking to while using, and you get endless pestering notifications.

Not great for rural areas
Have had this for a year and it has yet to find my dog before I do. We live in a rural area with poor cell coverage. When he runs off, even after lost mode is activated 15-30 min later there is no updated location. Probably a good option if in urban or suburban areas. I do like how waterproof it is and how it charges, though the state of charge is displayed small and in the wrong color.

Critical Failure
When the app asks to use Bluetooth it can lock your screen making it impossible to exit out or shut down. Had to use a second device to research how to manually shut down my phone using the side buttons.
Keeping my girl safe
I love this device. I can monitor my girl’s activity and adjust what needs to be done to keep her healthy per the daily data. My dog breed is prone to cardiac issues. This device helps me to help her to hit the sweet spot with her exercise steps w/o harming her by over doing it or being too conservative. Plus, I know where she is at all times. This helps when I’m dropping her off to play or going on road trips. I have peace of mind knowing where she is. Thank you FI!

I’m not paying you to track me
Today my dog got out and I couldn’t even open the fi app on my phone to set list mode and find her without enabling location services always on my phone. You have no reason to track where I am at all time an and now I can’t use the feature I’m paying you for without you tracking. I’ll be going elsewhere.

Work for about a month and then tried to date mine me
This thing worked as intended for about a month and then suddenly the area where I would punch to find out where my dog was, was filled with all kinds of questions about me and my dog, which had nothing to do with locating him. Instead, they were very obviously #DATA mining me. I really don’t like that and I would never buy this collar again. They waited till it was too late to turn it back in. Otherwise I would’ve done that. They switched. This is a bait and switch operation trying to get help from their Help team failed failed failed

Happy but have one request
We started using Fi about 5 years ago after adopting an adult Husky. It was a life saver as he was a professional scape artist. After his passing we decided to keep the membership for our 4yo golden retriever and use it more to track his activity as opposed to his location.
I’d really like Fi rankings to include age filters within breed and state packs, not just in All Dogs on Fi. Right now, comparing my dog against all dogs in his breed or state isn’t very useful when so many top-ranked dogs are puppies. Adding the same Puppies, Adults, and Seniors breakdown to breed and state rankings would make those comparisons much more relevant. I don’t really care what his rank is, I just want to see the average activity level for his breed in the same age group.

This is supposed to track my dog, but it’s tracking me!
App won’t work without ‘always on’ gps setting in my phone. Fi doesn’t need to know where I am all the time, this is massively invasive!
Battery life
They say the battery should last up to 3 months depending on activity. The trackers I got last a week if I’m lucky. False advertising!
Poor access
You always have to switch to location service always on to look at anything in the app. If I’m sitting at home. I don’t want to have location services always on draining my phone’s battery. At least set it to when an app and still allow the application to work. I know it’s just a cheap shortcut for them to save money on tracking by using my phones tracking. And they say it’s for us because it conserves battery on the collar , but then it just drained my phone. They just don’t like paying for the data service services.
