Delayed notifications
We’ve had this for over two years and about 40-50% of the time the notification is delayed when our dog leaves the zone. My husband doesn’t use the app, so whenever he walks her, I get a notice. Great to count steps, but not reliable for location. Now it is not connecting to the network at all if she is out. Too much trouble for the annual fee.

App is a fail
The app perpetually signs me out and won’t hold. It also can’t keep up with a fast dog. It gives you a general idea where the dog went so that you can follow along and see when your dog gets hit by a car.
This tracking collar sucks..honestly…
Claims to be GPS supported, but if you don’t have cellular service, good luck tracking your dog…actually horrifying…great for tracking your fun little walks, and visits to the dog park…but if you live in an area with little to no cellular service? No dice…the app only tracks your phone, not your dogs collar…
Definitely will not be renewing my subscription…

Amazing
I can’t recommend Fi enough! The tracking is amazing and I can tell whet my dog is anytime. There is a great community where you can share photos. It’s a great app that I’m sure has helped many people.

Ultra does not work. CAUTION
I did use Ai to write the review but it’s my true and honest experience with the Fi Ultra.
I wanted to like this system, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing.
From the beginning, the battery life was extremely poor, lasting 24 hours or less. I knew going into it that the battery life would not be amazing given the design, but it was nowhere close to the advertised performance of up to five days in standby mode. Even when the device was placed in standby, it would still die within 24 hours.
I contacted customer support, and they performed a remote reboot that temporarily solved the issue. Unfortunately, the problem returned shortly afterward.
The Ultra also would not connect to Starlink. I spent over a week going back and forth with customer support and was told that a software update would be released to resolve the issue. After the update was pushed, the device still would not connect. Despite all of the troubleshooting, they refused to replace the unit.
At that point, I had no choice but to return it within the 30-day return window.
The customer support AI chatbot was also frustrating to deal with and made it unnecessarily difficult to reach a live representative. That said, I do want to recognize Mario from the support team. He was by far the most helpful person I spoke with, and I appreciate the time and effort he put into trying to resolve the issues. I only wish the outcome had been different.

This app sucks! We got this collar and app after my son’s dog kept getting out of the fence. I got added to his pack but this app will not allow me to open it unless I allow it to track me all the time.
Very easy
We've been using the Fi GPS dog tracker for six months now. I love how it holds it charge 6 to 8 weeks. Our dog is not prone to wandering, however after hearing stories of other family members losing their dogs and searching for 30 hours it's money well spent to prevent this discuss catastrophe from happening.

Update holds the collar hostage for your phone’s location
I bought a GPS collar so the COLLAR tracks my dog. I live on a farm — my dogs roam acres, they don’t get leash walks, and my phone’s location is irrelevant to anything Fi does for me. For years the app worked fine with location set to “While Using.” A 2026 update now refuses to run at all unless I grant “Always” + Precise — 24/7 background tracking of MY phone as the price of viewing data from a device I own and pay a monthly subscription for.
Fi’s justification is Bluetooth handoff to save collar battery on walks. Fine — make it optional and let those of us who don’t use walk tracking opt out. Instead they disabled the middle ground entirely. That’s not a technical requirement, it’s a choice, and it’s exactly the dark pattern Apple’s guidelines are supposed to prevent: hard-gating core functionality that demonstrably worked without background location for years.
I’m paying a subscription for hardware with its own GPS and LTE radio. Restore “While Using” support or I’m moving to a tracker that doesn’t treat me as the product.

How?
I’m actually blown away that this app receives as high rating as it does considering it’s an abysmal customer service. I’ve spent a better part of an hour or more over the past few days trying to get in touch with somebody but for whatever reason, I am not getting a response. I’m certainly glad it’s not an emergency situation in just having to deal with the lousy technology not having to do the tracking aspect..
Update: Aug 1, 2026.. defective collar seems to require multiple bots , emails.. photo evidence… and an offer to troubleshoot rather than simply replacing the damn thing … typical company that does its best to keep you from speaking to a human..coupled with ai that never seems to be able to help.

Like the collar, but takes some time to track on the map, seems like the signal could be stronger.

This is the best tech I’ve come across in all my years of doing dogs. I always immediately put a tracker on a new dog and it tells me what they’re up to and if they’re somewhere they shouldn’t be!
