HRV is not useful for bio age computation

I’ve previously complained to support about the app’s increasing reliance on HRV measurements. I’m just needing a way to permanently dismiss cards that are based on this metric since they have no useful role to play in determining sleep quality for heart patients.

Now this last update adds a non-optional card that magically computes and firmly states a biological age for both sleepers. I’m supposedly 10 years older than actual, any my partner is 15 years younger than actual.

This is nothing more than junk science, reported on an unproven and unreliable measurement while the app ignores actual health and fitness status of the users. And this is greeting users on a daily basis and annoying the heck out of some of us.

Fantastic

The Eight Sleep app and bed are both fantastic products, I wish I’d bought one earlier. I’ve been using the app and mattress topper for just over six months now, I can’t recommend it highly enough. It was great to be able to see exactly how many minutes I was snoring each night, so I could then implement various things and test them. The sleep score is very accurate, I also love how it raises the temperature at waking time.

POS still doesn’t work without WiFi

Supposedly they fixed it. Still doesn’t work. 3am WiFi out? Your bed stops cooling. Dumb af

I love eight sleep

I always challenge myself to sleep on time and I look forward to experiencing sleep with eight sleep because it’s new and better experience for a quality night sleep. Definitely recommend this to everyone. Worth the investment especially if you run hot all the time! Best upgrade ever.

Buggy App + AutoPilot sucks

The UI is constantly freezing up, becoming unresponsive, no swiping/tapping does anything for over 30 seconds, still unresponsive. So I kill the app. Happens again a minute later.

If you love buggy apps and you’re real impressed by “A.I.” features that literally improve no meaningful metrics, but instead need to be turned off.

The app really wants you to use all of its “features” like sending you a text message summary every day. I turned this off, because I find it useless and annoying. I get enough text messages. What does the app do? Keeps reminding me to “finish setting up”, but it wasn’t a feature I wanted, but it keeps asking nonetheless to turn it back on. Same with the Ambient Response “feature”, which over just a few days completely changes your temperature profile for the worse. Turn that off and it’ll keep asking to turn it back on.

Ambient Response

Alarm
Even though the mattress cover is able to detect when you’re in the bed, if you forget to turn off the alarm in the app, it will vibrate the haptic motors for minutes even when no one’s in the bed. This is purposely wearing out the haptic motors, which they know wear out over time, so you have to replace them.

Provides zero help dialling in temperature when you first get it and you have no choice but to dial in completely manually over weeks/months of bad sleep results, because auto pilot (A.I.) provided ZERO help.

Once your manually created sleep temps help you get 100% sleep quality, Eight Sleep is going to HELP YOU forget all about that over the next few days while they slowly increase all your temps until you’re getting 65% quality. That’s when you realize that the $5000 you spent was worth every cent.

So many complaints.

It’s constantly suggesting/changing to a new temperature based on the ambient room temperature before I go to bed, and I always have to check it because whenever I go with what it recommends, I have a bad sleep. If it’s bedtime changes are similar to what’s doing in the middle of the night, it’s a waste of money.

Also, when I first got Eight Sleep, Autopilot did nothing to help me find the right temperature. I had to constantly experiment with no guidance about what I was doing to dial in my temperature. Autopilot was always wrong then too.

The only time I sleep well is when I use the temperatures that I found through a LOT of manual trial and error over weeks of testing one degree adjustments at a time and comparing that to sleep results.

The Eight Sleep support team was also useless to help me dial-in anything. I spoke to them multiple times asking for guidance on temperature patterns or sleep studies, but they had no information, and were not helpful at all.

All my custom tags from the previous app have been deleted! What a waste of time.

If I click stop tracking, why doesn’t it turn off the alarm? Or ask me to turn off the alarm? Instead, I come into the room and the bed’s vibrating like crazy for who knows how long which I’m sure is hard on the motors. There’s not even a person in the bed!

Response from developer

HI there, viewing your temperatures during different sleep stages is visible in the Autopilot Report. Tap the blue diamond from the Homepage or Metrics page, scroll down to temperature, and toggle on Sleep Stages to see temperature overlayed with Sleep Stages.
