NOT for SIBO

If you are suffering from SIBO and not IBS, this is not the app for you. The app says it has a SIBO mode, but it will flag many food items as being negative for you when in fact, they’re OK. It genuinely just creates more frustration than it is worth.

On top of that, you can’t even really try it out without paying $40 for the year. On the free app, you get three scans or three meal entries a day. If you try and make an edit to one of those meals, it takes away one of your meals “scans” for the day.

IMHO if the publisher of this app really wants to gain more subscribers, it needs to give you an opportunity to try all of the features of the app for a full week before it forces an annual subscription down your throat.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to write such detailed feedback, this is genuinely useful and we read every word. On SIBO: you're right that our SIBO mode errs on the cautious side, and for some foods that means flags you may not personally react to. That's intentional as a starting point, but it shouldn't stay in your way — the app is built to learn your tolerances over time, and you can manually adjust any food group's sensitivity under Settings → FODMAP Profile (and fine-tune SIBO behavior in Diet Mode). Making SIBO-specific flagging more accurate is a top priority, and your note helps us push on it. On editing a meal using up one of your daily scans: that's a bug, plain and simple — editing an existing meal should never count against your limit. Thank you for catching it. We're fixing it. On the free plan: we'd push back gently here. Three AI analyses a day covers breakfast, lunch, and dinner — a full day of logging for most people. Every scan runs real AI that costs us money, and we're a small team trying to build something sustainable, so we keep the free tier as generous as we honestly can. If you're scanning more than that daily, you're getting real value from the app — and that's exactly who Pro is built for. We'd genuinely like to make this right on the SIBO side — if you're open to it, email us at support@fodmapsnap.com and we'll help you get the app dialed in. — The FODMAPSnap team

Camera access???

I couldn’t get past the first analysis. It said it needed access to my camera to scan my first meal. It does have access. It does DO anything. The app also seems to overlap pictures and words as I am swiping from page to page.

Response from developer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out and sorry for the frustration! This sounds like a bug on our end, not anything you're doing wrong. The overlapping text/images issue helps us pinpoint it. Could you email us at support@fodmapsnap.com with your device model and iOS version? We'd love to fix this for you ASAP and will extend your trial once resolved. Thanks for your patience!

Careful

Be aware that not all recipes are FODMAP-friendly.

Disappointed - Deleting

Ive used this for a while, and its a great reference tool. HOWEVER,
The recipe part of the app is completely useless, the recipes take you somewhere else, off app. And most of them are not low fodmap.

That aside ive still used the list often to check what is safe/ not safe to eat.

But just today! I have been inundated with ads that you CANNOT close! This was not like this before, and if i close the app and re-open. It re-pops up the ad.

While it was a good tool for a while it looks like I will have to delete like every other ad spammed app out there.

I don’t know what to say

I never let anything be automatically updated because I don’t want to be in a situation where an update ruins an app; you all know that happens. I haven’t used this app in a long time but noticed the update, checked it out and I’m floored! Six bucks for no ads? I’ve seen four dollars to get rid of ads and that seems excessive. I’m pretty sure I won’t use this app anymore because that’s just insane. I’d say “I have no words for this“ but I do. It’s not worth my time to put those words down. Wow. Just wow.

Great app

This app gives you the info you need for basic ingredients. So when you first start this way of eating and trying to find what sugar/s are causing the problem it is very useful. If you like to buy ready made meals and sauces then this won’t help. But saying that getting back to basics is the only way to achieve peace of mind when diagnosed with something like IBS.

Simple, quick, accurate

I just type in the search bar the food I am uncertain about, and instantly I know whether it is low, medium, or high FODMAP. Thanks for this great resource for us all who are living low FODMAP! I can eat in confidence and without spending twenty minutes scrolling lists of foods online.☺️
