Highly recommend this for neurodivergent people
This has been the only app I have ever downloaded for mental health that I have stuck with this long. I’m only on day 21 but I can’t wait to see where it goes. I love my little fox companion and she brings me a lot of comfort. Getting to unlock things each day helps with my adhd motivation as well. I like how SIMPLE the app is and hope it does not sell out or become fast-paced or saturated in ads or notifications. The reason why it is working for me is because it DOESN’T have all of the noise and overstimulation that most of the internet has.
The only critique I have is that I wish AI wasn’t used so much in the making of it.
I do recommend trying this out though if you are neurodivergent, ESPECIALLY if you have AUDHD.

I think its super cute, super helpful, and relaxing
Well, I’m a journal-er at heart. This app is kinda like Finch and a journal had a really calm relaxing baby. You do have to pay for plus if you want the extra features (more clothes, adding feelings to your feelings roster, etc) but I just use the base app features and like it plenty. I’m someone who has a hard time reflecting on and processing through their emotions in real time, and without help, hence the writing it down. They give little lessons on emotions which I think is super cool and helpful, and terms to use to help you describe them outside of your typical “happy, sad, angry” and you get a little pet friend to go on your emotional adventure with. I genuinely enjoy this app

Helpful tool for those who struggle with regulation
I myself find it difficult to put a name for what I’m feeling in a moment. I know when I’m obviously happy/sad/angry, but it feels like I don’t really have a middle ground. This app has actually genuinely helped me slow down and process not only what I feel, but gives me the tools I need to identify it, name it and reflect on it, even if sometimes the emotions are bad. I did the 7 day trial and I think I might actually get the year subscription. When I first saw the ad for it I just clicked on it thinking I had nothing to lose anyways but I’m actually surprised with how helpful I’ve found this to be for me. If my experience sounds vaguely like something you also experience, why not give it a try? After all, you’ve got nothing to lose from trying it :)

Insightful and Calming
I was a longtime user of Finch but felt like it lost its way as it gained popularity. I wanted an app that put mental health front and center (and wasn’t increasingly problematic)so I went on a search for an alternative. I found Foxtale by an App Store recommendation and love it. At first I wanted to be able to add my own tasks, but now I’m thankful I can’t, as it prevents the to-do list feeling and keeps mental health as the focus. The check-ins with low/high, pleasant/unpleasant, and lack of neutral are very helpful for self awareness. The conversations fox has with animal friends are insightful and are added to your book to be revisited. I would love to see breathing exercises added to the Toolkit.

The best mental health buddy
I used a different self-help app with an animated character for years. That app has stepped away from its original goal of being a self-help and mental health app. Foxtale is everything that app set out to be. This app is the best self-help companion app that I have found for someone with neurodivergence. It is simple enough to not be overwhelming, but compelling enough to come back every single day sometimes multiple times a day to log my emotions and to better understand myself.
I want to thank the developers for creating this app and sticking true to what it is meant for.

Content is Stellar, Improvements Could Happen
I would like an export function for the responses. Beyond that, this checks every box I could ask for and I have no complaints on function.
I love that I’m not locked into a feeling. I’m not a single-color-bubble person and this app doesn’t force you to be. The history is nice and I’ll be interested to see trends.
This isn’t a task app, which was crucial for me. I tried Finch and just couldn’t make it work for me.
But this? I feel very little pressure so it’s more comfortable to talk. Sometimes I’m short and sometimes I ramble. Foxtale doesn’t make anything good or bad. There’s no streak. There’s… nothing but support.
I often have issues feeling talked down to by mental health apps. Especially when it comes to anxiety symptoms. I have had the exact opposite experience with Foxtale. I truly do love it.
My therapist is also, coincidentally, in love with it. So have a double recommendation. :)

So helpful
Amazing!
I’ve been using this for a few weeks and I’ve already noticed a difference in how I handle emotions. I also like how the colors and the overall tone of the app isn’t in your face like others. The gentle colors are relaxing and the fox is adorable!! Love this more than Finch!
Cute & helpful
I am really liking this app so far! I chose grief as my first topic, and it’s been really comforting seeing my little fox help others who are grieving as I am grieving a loss irl. Surprisingly validating seeing it written that you can grieve someone who is still alive.
Also, the decor is super cute. I’ve been collecting the apple-themed furniture to decorate my fox’s room, and that brings me a lot of joy :)

Well thought out
This is the only journaling app I use. I use it everyday. All the activities are so well thought out. This app truly is soothing
So cute and actually helpful
I look forward to buying things for my little fox friend with moon coins, earned by adding journal entries, identifying feelings, etc. it has been helpful to check in with myself daily. Takes 5 minutes a day, and I am genuinely enjoying it.
Not for me
I saw recommendations about this app, and at first I thought it would be a good fit, but after a couple weeks of using it, it feels more annoying than anything. I don’t like to journal on my phone, and I am frustrated sometimes when *people* ask me how I feel, so to have an app ask me how I feel and dig into what that all stems from just doesn’t work with my brain. I’m sure it’s great for some people, but not for me.

Useful and Cute
Listen, I’ve tried a lot of journaling apps, self-development apps, and apps designed to motivate you to help yourself. Most of them fall flat. But this one hits all the buttons in a great way.
Not only is the fox adorable in a way that gives you dopamine directly to the dome, but it has genuinely good insights into your feels, and gives you space to explore your feelings without feeling stifled. This app helped me realize I had mis-identified the way I was feeling for years, and now that I have a better understanding of what’s actually going on, it’s helping me identify and utilize better coping mechanisms.
Getting rewards for engaging that you can use to make your fox even cuter is also a great feature.
It even has my coworkers wanting to try it, because they saw this widget with this cute little fox on my phone and now they all wanna play with him too!
20/10, I highly recommend!

Really helping me well im mentally at my lowest
A game changer
This app has helped me out a lot. It teaches how to be more kind to ourselves while giving journal prompts to help cope with my day.
Just what I needed!
I have been enamored with this app! I’m actually journaling again and one of my favorite aspects of doing it this way is that it helps me gain specific insight as to what I’m feeling in the moment. It gives the names of emotions from a 4 point category of level of intensity and whether it’s positive or negative feelings and actually provides a brief definition of the word so I can have insight when I reflect on what I’m actually going through. It’s wonderful in that it helps me turn my turbulent thoughts into something more grounded. I also love that each day, me and my little fox Kitsu, learn and do an exercise regarding an actual therapeutic topic. It rephrases, reframes, and rewords ideas and concepts so I can truly wrap my head around things like what resilience looks like to me and stuff like that. I LOVE being able to dress up my guy and decorate his room! Honestly, I cannot emphasize how much I love this app! I’ve tried many different mood journals and they all had different benefits but this one marries everything I loved about all of them. Give this one a try!

Not at your pace
The app is cute and has a lot of potential, but you can’t go at your own pace; you’re forced to go with the app’s pace, which is extremely slow. It only lets you progress a tiny bit every day, and there’s zero explanation for it. It’s basically like if you went to a new therapist who asked “What does sadness mean to you?”, then pushed you out the door and said “we’ll talk more about it tomorrow!” I truly don’t understand why it’s set up this way.

Best journalling app I’ve tried
I love that it gives you journal prompts based on your emotions/experiences throughout the day, it’s very helpful for getting my brain in motion. Also love that there’s no ads! I recommend this app to everyone
The best
Honestly this has been the best app for me. I feel as if I have been better about managing my BPD thanks to this app.
