Poor onboarding and unclear NRE support
The app allowed me to link my NRE account during signup, but later rejected it and left me stuck without a clear resolution. Support then suggested linking a regular savings account, which is concerning for a remittance app where account type and compliance matter. If NRE accounts are not supported, this should be clearly stated upfront. This experience made me lose confidence in the platform.

Issue With Adding US Bank Account
Multiple times Tried using Plaid its showing unsuccessful but not showing account ( Pending 2nd step) and reached out support but response is slow…Not Yet resolved..

Good app with excellent rates
I’ve been using this for the past 2 months. Initially, I was a bit skeptical since it’s not a well-known name. I started with small transfers, and everything went through smoothly,so far, so good.
rating it 4 stars mainly because the UI is simple and the exchange rates are very competitive. However, customer service needs improvement. For one issue, I had to escalate and even reach out to the founder, who was responsive and helpful.
There are still some bugs and areas to improve. For example, I initially added a recipient as Bank1 and made a few transactions. Later, I removed it and added Bank2, but transfers were still going to the old bank account, this issue has been reported but not yet fixed.
Areas for improvement:
*Increase the cancellation window
* Allow adding multiple accounts
* Support NRE accounts
* Improve customer service
* Enable instant transfer options

BEWARE they don’t offer NRO accounts transfer
As an NRI, you need to transfer your money to an NRO account to save on taxes, but flex pay don’t transfer money to NRO it only transfers to NRE account where you get taxed for the money you sent to India. They also say you can transfer to regular bank account. As an NRI, you cannot have regular bank account.

Great app, with a great referral program
Got on this through a friend from my MBA program who moved to Chicago. We both save more when we refer people apparently. Have since got three other friends from our India group chat onto it. Good app, good rate, and it actually rewards you for spreading the word.
Makes me feel less guilty about not visiting
Okay that sounds dramatic but when you are far from family the least you can do is make sure the money transfer is smooth and not eat into what you are sending with fees. Frex does that. Rate is good, transfer is fast, family is happy.
Smooth from start to finish
Downloaded this on a Sunday evening, got verified, linked my US bank account and sent money to my sister in Pune all in the same sitting. No weird errors, no waiting for approval emails. Just worked.
My mom actually called to ask what happened
First time I used Frex my mom called me because the money arrived instantly, and she thought something was wrong lol. Used to take two days with my old app. Now instant with frex !
Needs improvement
Once the transaction is initiated we are unable to cancel the transaction even though you sent to wrong account it cannot be undone. This is such a bad thing that a transaction cannot be cancelled. Are you serious? And time shown for transaction completion is never met seems to be. Lol hold your hands till you receive money
