Dystopian AI slop

Download this for the $5 Verizon credit. Even letting it sit for an hour to earn the monthly credit didn’t seem worth it. The goal of the app is to sell you clothing after generating an AI image of you wearing said clothing after you upload a selfie. Even if that was something I would be interested in, the quality of the image generated looks like pasting my photo on catalog models. The “news articles” are more AI slop that doesn’t actually inform you of anything, despite being 500 words long. No idea if the weather reading is accurate since I knew I needed this app off my phone to avoid being data farmed before there was a chance for the weather to change. Not a great look when the advertising on this app is for Temu and online gambling. All of this said, I probably would have had to delete this app, even if I liked it, solely due to how much I could visibly see it causing lag on my phone the more I used it. I also think the 5 star reviews are AI generated.

Major Issues That Need to Be Addressed

I've used Glance Widgets for approximately 30 minutes, and honestly, my experience so far has been disappointing.

1. Major phone overheating issue

Within just 10 minutes of using the app, my phone gets EXTREMELY hot. I'm not talking about slightly warm - it gets hot enough that I feel the need to close the app and completely stop it from running in the background. After about three minutes of leaving it lone, my phone starts cooling down. This is a major red flag and my biggest concern. An app should not cause my phone to overheat this quickly during normal use.

2. Inaccurate weather information

The weather information is unreliable. It can literally be pouring rain outside while the pp tells me it's sunny. I can look out my window and see the rain with my own eyes, so how am I supposed to trust the information being provided? If something as basic as the weather is inaccurate, it makes me question the reliability of the rest of the app.

3. The content isn't engaging enough

There isn't much that grabs my attention. I would be more inclined to use the app if the articles were more interesting, relevant, and engaging. So far, much of the content hasn't given me a reason to keep coming back.

4. The inactivity timer is frustrating

I understand that the app requires active usage to count toward the monthly rewrd, but the inactivity notifications are incredibly annoying when I'm trying to read an article. Reading requires you to stop scrolling and actually absorb the information. I shouldn't have to constantly touch my screen just to prevent an inactivity notification from popping up and blocking the bottom of the screen while I'm reading. Please allow a reasonable amount of time for users to read without interruptions.

5. The horoscope section needs improvement

The horoscope page doesn't look porticularly inviting and could use a better design. The content also doesn't feel especially accurate to me, although I recognize that horoscopes are subjective.

What I did like:

Some articles cover real-life issues, safety concerns, and topics that are genuinely relevant to everyday life. Those were the articles I found most worthwhile, and I'd like to see more content like that.

Overall:

At this point, the $5 monthly reward for 60 minutes of usage is the main incentive to use this app. Unfortunately, the overheating issue, inaccurate weather, uninteresting content, and constant inactivity notifications make the experience frustrating rather than enjoyable.
I've only used about 30 minutes so far, and these issues have olready made me hesitant to continue.

I would like to see improvements in the app's performance, weather accuracy, content quality, and reading experience. The app has some potential, but right now, the experience needs significant improvement before I'd consider using it beyond earning the monthly reward

Makes shopping for styles so easy.

Super accurate in visualizing what combos work better. By far the best app on the market. Huge thanks for making this happen!

Very Useful

Nice widgets, can access news that I’m interested in and my nfl scores. Great experience

Earning $5 for doing the usual

I generally spend time on my phone reading news, checking weather, sports, shopping. If I am getting paid $5 every month for doing this, it is amazing. Thanks Verizon for this program.

Practically Malware

This is a simple data harvesting app with a $5 monthly bill credit as the bait

Doesn’t work

I have everything downloaded and setup correctly almost had my time in for the month! Now it says “rewards unavailable only for Verizon customers”! I am a Verizon customer! I went back to Verizon app it still shows enrolled. What on earth is wrong with this app!

Response from developer

Thanks for flagging this. We identified and resolved an issue that temporarily affected rewards eligibility for some Verizon customers. Your rewards and progress should now have resumed as expected. If you’re still seeing an issue, please contact us at support@glance.com and we’ll take care of it.
