Unfair and Expensive Fees for Drivers
Once a driver accepts a project, if an unexpected personal situation, vehicle problem, or something completely outside of their control happens and they need to cancel, GoShare can charge the driver a cancellation fee of $30, $40, or even $50. So not only is the platform making money from the delivery service itself, but the driver can also end up losing a significant amount of money simply because they were unable to complete a project.
On top of that, many of the projects do not pay enough considering the distance, time, weight, loading, unloading, fuel, vehicle expenses, and physical effort involved.
Drivers are the ones using their own vehicles, paying for gas, maintenance, insurance, and doing the physical work, yet the system feels heavily stacked against them. The communication and support for drivers also leave a lot to be desired.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend GoShare to drivers looking for fair and reliable gig work. Be very careful before accepting projects because a cancellation can end up costing you more than you expected.
