Edit: Recipes restored after being lost for a week.
Edit: after a second attempt to sort out the issue the technical team came to the rescue and the recipes are back. I don’t really understand why they went or why they’re back. I think the initial chat function was desperately unhelpful (saying it was all unrecoverable) and I’m grateful to the technical team for sorting it out. I will probably keep the account now but I’m wondering if a backup is available because it was a blow when I thought everything, including my notes, were all lost.

Response from developer
Hello, The developers saw this review and want to take a closer look. Please email feast.feedback@theguardian.com, and our team can investigate.
Unreliable saved recipes function
I’ve been using this app for nearly a year and saving recipes into folders, a significant part of the reason for having the app. Then, for no particular reason, the app lost all my saved recipes. I contacted the help function and the recipes aren’t recoverable, they just said sorry about that. I’m not renewing my subscription and the guardian says I have to go to Apple to enquire about my money back. Most unsatisfactory and disappointing.

An all round culinary resource
Feast is now my first choice recipe finder. It’s inventive, eclectic & comprehensive. Used on my mobile, helpful when shopping ingredients and my tablet, great in Cooking mode when in the kitchen preparing & cooking the dish.
Felicity Cloake & Rachel Roddy’s recipes are a distillation of years of experience. Ottolenghi adds new twists and flavours to old favourites. The list goes on & on.
Keep up the good work. Thank you

Daily adventures
I have to confess to having become a ‘Feast dish of the day’ tragic! So many new ideas and combinations 😊
Inspiration
I’m not enough of a cook to pay for this app on its own but it’s included in my Guardian subscription. I like the range of recipes, the layout, and being able to set filters for dietary preferences. It’s mostly the recipes that are published in the paper/on the website so they’re on the fancy side, with lots of desserts. Therefore, for me, it would be nice if the app-exclusive recipes included more everyday/store cupboard/batch cookable vegetarian mains.
