Open on app bug
Great app in a lot of ways, but there seems to either be a bug happening or this is in need of another look from the ux team: I get an email with a list of jobs, I click on one to learn more about it, it opens in my browser (duck duck go), a pop up asks me if I want to view the job on the Handshake app instead of my browser and here’s where the experience takes a dive—I can’t get rid of the pop up to just view it in my browser, but if I click to go to Handshake, instead of opening the already-installed-on-my-phone app, it opens the app store—which knows that I’ve downloaded already, so I click the “open” button, and it takes me to the app but not to the job I was interested in viewing, which I then have to search for. Please take a look and see if you can streamline the flow on this. Thanks for reading!

Nonfunctional App
Does not work properly. Can’t apply for and jobs just shows an error. Given the amount of recent 1-star reviews I will consider myself lucky that I couldn’t get in. Seems most people are not getting paid and found a class action lawsuit against them for non-payment. Avoid this app and company apparently is the best idea.

mind you signing in on the ACTUAL website it works. signing in on this app is so stupid. I sat here for more than 10 minutes trying to sign in using my school account. Idk what’s going on but yall need to fix it, like at this point just get rid of the app and continue working as a website
Horrible Support for Employers
I own a company and we were looking to hire 3 entry level associates. We have used Handshake in the past and had success. Without any warning, heads up, or message, our account was suspended and we lost all access to the candidates that had applied and scheduled interviews. We no longer had contact details or resumes for those that were showing up for their interview. We reached out to the support email they provided 4-5 times. It took 3 weeks to finally get a response. They wanted us to verify more company information about our LLC which we did quickly. We hired 1 of the 3 openings we needed to fill. 25 days later, our account got suspended again without any notice. It’s not been ANOTHER 3 weeks without any response to the 7 emails we have sent. We will no longer be using Handshake and we highly recommend other employers be very careful about using this as a source of hiring

Terrible search function
Jobs advertised on my uni’s instagram saying they can be found on Handshake. I go to the app and search the exact job title but it comes up with zero results. I try to find it through browsing jobs but it shows me jobs in other countries. I restrict the search to my city but then it shows about 3 jobs but all in different cities.

This app is completely overrun with job scams and why is there no way to report a job from the app? Seems like they want to keep the scammers in business.
Unpaid Hours & Ignored Support – Handshake AI
Sharing my firsthand contractor experience with Handshake AI (Project Hedgehog & Multimango):
Unpaid Work: Completed 89+ hours of logged, verified work. The earnings dashboard was reset to $0.00, blamed on "sync delays."
No Support: Submitted pay disputes with timer screenshots. Messages were ignored, and I was removed from Slack channels without explanation.
Legal Action: Due to unpaid wages, I filed an official Wage Claim (29 pages of proof) with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
Documenting this factual experience to warn other contractors: keep strict logs of all your work.

I’m annoyed because it forces you to fill everything out in the app; we can’t use the browser anymore to fill out for jobs.

fake job postings
indeed had said that handshake “was hiring” for medical review of AI outputs. it was posted as working for handshake, asynchronous, WFH, so i was thinking i’m going to work for this company itself. the original posting said $300/hr, and when i went to the actual posting it went down to $110/hr. i went through the “apply” process thinking i can do this medical review on the side but the entire “applying” process was just so i could download their app. no surprise, that job didn’t actually exist. the entire applying process was just so they could get me to download their app and most likely harvest personal information. why on earth would a job searching app pose as an actual job on another job searching app(indeed)? they’re just trying to get people searching for jobs on their own app. sketchy, terrible, scam

I just signed in using my school id and instead of progressing to anything. The app asked my what my school was again. If I was a software developer at this company I would be ashamed of myself and quit.

Terrible Customer Service
I joined and add my resume, got job offers and then was unable to join the jobs offered. Sent in a ticket only to be told to send it proof of education. I submitted my degree and was then told I was banned from the platform. Over 25 years in Managment and I’ve never seen such a poorly ran platform with poorly trained staff. Hr trained professionals should be screening and answering emails not random people who have poor hr training and ban applicants at leisure. Don’t waste your time on this app.
