Seems like it would be a good app

It's $40/yr or $10/mo I would have loved to use an app like this, but sadly my budget doesn't allow it. I'll stick with going to my local church for free instead. Was excited to meet people my own age in a place with a better reputation. Maybe in the future they can offer a similar donation-based payment structure. Also, just my opinion, but the cute animation and the feelings-based quiz gives me the impression they are not immune to falling victim to a similar reputation.

Disappointed, but Good Idea

Edit: upon the developer commenting, I went back into the app to try again. The free trial is only 3 days and then you can either choose a weekly subscription or annual subscription. I did the 3 day trial to give the app a real shot. I selected every type of activity to see how many it can find in my area, and the only result was a run club (which I know for a fact is not the only thing in my area). I changed my review to 3 stars in hopes that the app will improve as it becomes more established, because I love the concept. But my true review? Still 1 star.

OG: I was excited to find this app because finding new groups and events in my area is difficult. However, I am beyond disappointed to find that the entire app is behind a subscription-based paywall. The least they could do is offer a free trial so you can see if they actually have interesting events in your area prior to paying. They should tell you this before you fill out an entire profile.

Response from developer

Hi, solo founder here. As of July 17th when you wrote this review, we only offer free trials. We say "no payment due today" as well. You are more than welcome to use the app before deciding whether or not to pay for it. Given your review is incorrect, can you please take it down? 1 star reviews are deeply painful for new apps and for the overall mission I'm working on (helping people everywhere find and build authentic friends). Thank you.

Just an app wrapper around Meetup

Not much new here if you are already familiar with basic events in your city

Response from developer

The goal is to help people that *aren't* familiar with activites in their city. I mean this sincerely, what were you expecting when you used my app? Do my screenshots and website not speak to what I'm actually trying to accomplish? I built this for people who want to make friends they'll see again and need some help getting started. If something is not for you, you're welcome to move on, but leaving a 1 star rating for a solo developer is really disappointing when I deliver exactly what I promise to deliver.

Cash grab

Save you money and do not get this app. They charge an outrageous price just for you to see the same 8 events over and over.

Response from developer

Sorry to hear we didn't meet your expectations. If you're open to sharing what you did expect from an app like this please email me at cj@omgcareer.com because I'd like to understand where we missed the mark and could do better.

Paying to meet ppl is just greedy

This app has a paywall, there’s many other free apps that will do the same thing as this one

Response from developer

I'd like to address the title of your review since I look at it differently. If I can inspire and motivate others to try things, and provide them with easy options they can click a button to attend, I'm making it extremely simply to take actions that (in my humble opinion) can significantly improve their lives by helping them growth, learn new things, and have the potential to make lasting friendships. Or, they can save money by continuing their same routines which I suspect consist of a lot of youtube, netflix, tiktok etc. Personally, the value of getting exposure to west coast swing dancing 16 years ago changed my life and if someone offered me $10,000 do never do it again, I'd refuse. I want others to try things, learn things, and meet their people. If you have ideas for how I can better accomplish that I'd be glad to hear about it: cj@omgcareer.com
