Change not always better

I do find the latest layout very confusing. It used to be such a user friendly app!

Mostly offline

Most of the time the app shows our heating and wall thermostat as being offline. Going through the time-consuming process is usually futile.
We have a (installer-provided) booster.
There seems to be no way to update device firmware (assuming it could be improved by firmware) so I can’t see how it can be rectified.
We have good WiFi coverage across the house and other IoT devices such as dishwasher are fine.
Hive are the known name in this field but really, look elsewhere. The product is terrible.

Some time later: Despite various updates (eg dark mode!), still no reliable app. Focus on the “what’s important” issues, not adding bling (avoiding a colloquial).
I have no idea how the app is showing so high as most of the reviews seem to be 1 or 2 stars!
It’s all well and good having some poor person replying to bad reviews saying they’d like to take a look and to contact support but with each issue fixed, a new automated build test should be created so the issue doesn’t happen again. Just fixing an issue for an individual isn’t useful long term and must drain the support team.

Heating schedule no longer visible on iPhone 8

Help! My heating schedule is no longer visible on my iPhone 8 screen? This happened suddenly a few weeks ago. I can use the boost tab, manual tab ok. Got central heating engineer out today and he logged into my account from his iPhone and he had visibility of the schedule at the bottom of his screen. I’ve tried logging out, deleting app and reinstalling, turning system off. I can’t adjust schedule from my phone when out the house etc. Can you offer a fix?

IPHONE SE

If you’re on an SE, if you turn Settings/Display to Standard (most users have this on large), you can just about access the Advance and Access buttons.

The hive remains offline and we simply cannot get it to reconnect.

Not what it used to be

Was a modest app with meaningful controls and feedback. The ambitions changed and has become a shadow its former efficiency. Constantly failing to connect and update. Loads of clutter and ‘improved’ graphics. And now with the latest update playing dead with a frozen screen. Quite sad.

Limitations

Two issues for me. The app no longer displays correctly on iPhone SE (the View Schedule button is off the bottom - with no scroll). Secondly, its operation with iOS shortcuts is unreliable. ‘Waits’ are needed to allow the app to become receptive. Also there no ability to read the state of the heating or schedule control (through a shortcut api). For those who use it for just heating plus a power point or two, the old app version was much simpler and more efficient to use.

Worst app ever

It’s honestly the worst app I’ve ever used. Every time I open it it either says it can’t connect or it tells me lights that are on are offline. Unfortunately I’m
Stuck with it as I got my boiler from British Gas, however if you have other options, choose anything else.

Finally we have Dark Mode!

Very pleased that the devs have listened and given us dark mode, the app has been crying it for it and is now almost perfect. Thank you for listening 🙏🏻
Widget can still be a little temperamental, requiring you to open the main app first for the widgets to work. This obviously defeats the object but is a minor thing.

Batteries in Themosrat

How long should the 4 batteries last in the thermostat ? Getting on average 10 weeks out of mine!

Feature Request

Please add the ability to hide or rename individual tiles on the dashboard.

In a multizone setup with two receivers, I have two Hot Water tiles, but only one is actually used.

At the moment I can only reorder them, not hide or rename the unused one, which makes the dashboard confusing and increases the chance of pressing the wrong control.

Awful app

Drops out so often, definitely won’t get another hive thermostat.

Offline

The hive has been offline for weeks I cannot get it to work with your poor ‘Let’s fix it’

Great Job

I just love everything about the Hive app.

Rarely works. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible UI. Standard features behind a monthly sub. I also always have to reset the thermostat and hub they regularly lose sync.

Not good

Products are erratic , sometimes slow to respond. App is difficult to share with family members. Constant ly having to sign in and authenticate. Large house 4 adults not good. Dropped connections. You think you have put something on to find that out has not worked left with cold water.
Plugs and sensors are erratic don’t follow time rules set and stay on rather than switch off after the set time. Items randomly switch on and off
Overall not a good experience.
