What's New in HockeyTracker

26.9.1

September 14, 2026

Calories, simplified. All workouts now use HockeyTracker's skating-specific calorie calculation like it did in the past, so the Apple Calorie Tracking setting is no longer needed. Apple's estimate is built for step-based workouts and ran too low for skating. Your full total still counts toward your Apple Move ring. Curious how we calculate calories? There's a new Calories topic in Learn More. Your VO2 Max, your choice. New setting: Write VO2 Max to Apple Health. Turn it off to keep VO2 Max inside HockeyTracker - and out of your Apple Health Cardio Fitness trend. Your VO2 Max readings and Trends chart keep working in the app either way. Ice time next to calories. Game, Pick Up, and Pond workouts now show your ice time right beside your calorie total - only your shifts burn calories at game intensity, and now you can see both numbers together. (Pro) Better exports. Workout exports now include VO2 Max and Max Heart Rate - with an option to fill them in for your entire workout history. (Pro) Know when something's wrong. If your Watch records heart rate but no skating data - usually a permissions issue - the workout now tells you exactly what to check, instead of just showing missing speed and shifts. And if your Watch app falls behind your iPhone app, the dashboard will let you know, with steps to update it. Improvements and fixes. - Workouts recorded on your Watch now appear on your iPhone right after syncing with delay. - Refinements to editing, trimming, and adding stats, and Exercise ring credit now catches up automatically when Health data syncs late - Steadier Hockey Fitness Level and Skating Efficiency readings - Fixed a rare bug where speed could read low on long distance samples - Individual shift calories now use your session type, effort level, and weight - matching the workout total - The share card now matches the workout detail screen's numbers - General stability improvements See you on the ice! Jaclyn

Great app and team

Wrote a 4/5 star review last week due to a bug in calorie calculation. Worked with the dev team to provide feedback on everything and they got it fixed. Love the app!

Watch compatibility

Love the app been using it for a couple years. It does everything I hoped and dreamed of. It’s always worked on my Apple Watch Series 3. Os8.8
All of a sudden it’s not working on my watch. Not sure when the compatibility changed but I’m
Thoroughly disappointed

Good Tracker but fix Calories

Whatever update got pushed between 6/19/2026 - 6/21/2026 changed the way calories were tracked. I played pickup for 1 hr and 15 minutes tonight and it calculated 226 calories burned. Maybe it was inflated before but it is severely wrong now.

Great tool!

Fantastic tool to track your results as well as cardiac protection built in to alert you of too high a heart rate.
Invaluable.

Love this app!

I’m 2 months into learning hockey and this tracker is great. I use it every time, I love the stats. Thank you for developing such a great tool! I used to manually track how many hours I’ve skated to gauge for skate sharpening too, so this app is amazing for that.

If I may request an option/adjustment- I use both figure skates and hockey skates. A way to specify which skates I was using (I log it as figure skate if I am) so it isn’t counted towards the same gear hours for sharpening time that would be so helpful, but I think I’m in the great minority on this one.
