This app will NOT teach you Bikram yoga

This app is made for ppl who already have a Bikram practice and have taken many classes in a studio with a qualified teacher. If you are new to Bikram this app will not teach you. It only gives photos and no language to set up the pose which can and most likely will result in injury. If you want to learn Bikram, go to a studio and learn with a qualified teacher who can help you exactly where you are physically.

This app works well as a timer for the poses. It did feel like some of the timing is a little off.. too long or too short in certain postures. But this IS something that can also vary a bit in live classes too. I’ve always dreaded the one or two teachers who seem to relish the “torture chamber” and hold the challenging poses “forever” 😅.

The photos are beautiful and the app works well for what it is.. a timer. The green line is a nice feature. I like to use this app to take a break from my Bikram audio recording since there are no classes where I now live.

No script - wish I could get a refund

This literally is just a picture of the poses played with a timer so you have to stare at the screen the whole time- Bikram is all about the script! Update- was able to get the sound to work and in theory this would be awesome but it has a few glitches. The 60 min skips sevasvna the whole floor series. A 75 min session would be ideal so they could bring them back. Also, some of the poses don’t move, they are just static so you have to manually override which isn’t helpful. This is almost good. Would love to see the 75 min session introduced and the glitches corrected.

Response from developer

Hello. Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry to hear you're unhappy with the app. This app is developed for simplicity, and each posture is verbally introduced by name and set, in addition to screen text and image. If you are not hearing sound, please check the settings for 'Voice' level. Please do note, as per in the description, this application is geared toward experienced yogis specific to the Bikram sequence.

Exactly what I was looking for

All the yoga studios are closed and I’ve been practicing on my own for a year. I was so tired of hearing the voices of these random teachers giving motivation and other nonsense tips. Now I can do my hot yoga with my own music. I can listen to gongs, mantras, or Tool, and still get all the timing right for the series. Perfect!

Stay Away

This is awful, super basic and useless if your not a pro as there is little to no instructions other than pose name and breathe in/out. Some poses skip shavasa and give you poses back to back while the sitting portion of poses don’t even give you enough shavasa time for a single breath. This is why trial periods are important, I contacted the developer after my first use for a refund and have been ignored for a week now.
They could update this by making a genuine bikram routine and adding helpful advise on posture and motivation throughout the poses that would make the simplicity of the app bearable. But as it stands, I won’t even use this as is.

Perfect for the advanced yogi

No dialogue. Just your own music or silence. If you know the poses and sequence you can’t beat this simple yet elegant app.

Just right

Ive figured out a way to do hot yoga at home and wanted prompts to change position without listening to sexist Bikram’s cd barking orders. What i love is that you can turn up volume of voice prompts and turn off the background noises AND it allows you to play music simultaneously! I only recommend it to those who already have a good practice and deep understanding of poses.

Simple

This app is so simple it’s perfect. It has the option for background but I turn that off and just listen for the voice prompts. The pictures are good reminders of poses. Definitely not for first time Bikram seekers, but amazing for those of us who no longer live close to a studio and want to continue to practice. Love the 60 minute option for quick morning session.

Good Enough

This is an app that is good enough. It’s not perfect but it is very helpful as a bikram timer and to remind me what the poses are supposed to look like. The 60 minute version is a little quirky and seems to just eliminate some of the rest breaks in order to condense the practice down from the 90 minute version. But I can work with that. Overall, I’m very thankful to the developer for creating this app. It’s the only bikram timer I’ve found. Sometimes good enough is good enough!

Meh.

If you’ve done bikram yoga before this app is enough to get by. But the prompts are very basic. “Awkward pose first part” and then the sound of waves for the duration of the pose. Certainly not the same as classroom direction and not very motivating.

Great for bikram yogis

Awesome app if you already know your bikram postures - the app will call out the pose & leave you to it, letting you know when to change. There is no in-pose instruction like you may get in class, but this was a plus for me. Voice prompts/ocean sounds can be adjusted or put on mute, visuals are helpful, if you need them. I’d recommend this app for yogis who can get through a class independently, only. It’s really handy.

Head to knee and bow are way too long!

I HATE how long standing head to knee and standing bow are held for... these are not easy postures and it seems so much longer than any class I’ve ever been to, I find it really hard on the back muscles and I’m not a beginner...

Otherwise I love everything else about this app!

Weird timing...

The pauses between postures are too long, loosing the flow of the practice....

Good & very usable

Good & appreciate much about it. Would like an hour version as well. Also needs an update for some audio and order errors in the last half.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! The latest release now has an hour option and audio issues have been addressed.

Don’t buy this app

Rubbish and boring.

Missing some pictures/timer

I like the idea and it mostly works, but it's missing some pictures and the timer sticks on some of the poses.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. A new version is available with several timer improvements and options.

Great app.

Great app. Just what I was looking for. Thank you!! Simple, timed, perfect.

Great Bikram timer

This is a basic timer that tells you when to change poses. If you're already familiar with the positions, it's all you need. It gives you a photo of each position to remind you which one it is, but no tips on how to do them. Which is fine.

The controls are a bit mysterious and it got stuck during the final breathing, so I gave it four stars, but even so, it's very very helpful for a home practice.

Bikram Yoga

Perfect for what I needed it for. I needed to be able to time the postures and be visually reminded what the next posture is.
The pictures are clear and there are also transitional photos to remind you how to get into the more complex postures.
I have not figured out how to get the lulling ocean music to play in the background, but I don't know if that's just me or an actual problem within the app.
Extremely simple to use and navigate through. Excellent app for at home practice for those who have been in the studio before.

Maybe for 99 cents

I bought this app because it stated that it has high def pictures of all postures, this is not true, all sitting postures have the same picture of a person leaning forward, other postures don't have pictures, I would give this a better rating if they would correct this and have the correct postures with correct pictures, for 3.99 it's the least this app developer could do.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback. The floor postures should have their own images, with exception to the ‘sit-up’, as it is performed several times during the floor exercises. The latest version has several improvements that may address any previous issue.

Too expensive

Use as only for a timer might be great but it's only that you are not a begginer.
If you don't have any experience with bikram yoga but still want to try it, I don't recommend this app.
Because so much important part is lacked.
