Complete Misinformation
HotelTonight turned a $600 hotel stay in Brooklyn into an expensive nightmare, and its customer support made an already terrible experience even worse.
I booked the Baltic Hotel based on how the property was presented in the app. What I actually received was essentially a tiny box with a bed, practically no amenities, no proper desk or chair, and basic necessities missing, including hand soap, tissues, and toilet paper. To make matters worse, cigarette and marijuana smoke was entering the property through the stairwell.
For approximately $600 a night, the accommodations were completely unacceptable and nowhere near the quality the listing led me to expect.
But here’s where HotelTonight truly failed: customer support.
I contacted HotelTonight during my stay, reported problems to hotel staff, and subsequently provided a detailed written complaint along with photographic and video evidence. Rather than seriously addressing the misleading listing and unacceptable conditions, HotelTonight relied on the hotel’s version of events, minimized my complaints, and denied a refund.
Their solution? A $75 coupon that expires in 90 days.
So after leaving me stuck with a $600 mistake, their answer was essentially to offer me a coupon to spend more money with them.
HotelTonight should be accountable for how properties are represented on its platform. Customers depend on accurate listings, especially when paying premium hotel prices. When those listings fail to reflect reality, customer support should protect the customer, not simply defend the property.
My experience showed a complete failure of both quality control and customer service.
I will not book through HotelTonight again, and I strongly recommend that others think twice before trusting its property descriptions or expecting meaningful support when something goes wrong.
Buyer beware.
This is nothing more than a brokerage app who washes their hands of any problems because there is zero skin in the game for them. Once they have misrepresented and you pay, the game is up for you as a customer.
