What's New in HRV

1.5

July 6, 2026

NEW — Energy (Body Resources) A new all-day energy reserve (0–100) showing how much you have "in the tank." It drains with stress and physical effort and recharges during genuine calm and sleep — with deep sleep restoring the most. Available as a dedicated view and a tile on Home. NEW — Sleep Score A nightly 0–100 score for last night, blending sleep duration, continuity and HRV-based restfulness. See the full breakdown on the Home card and follow your trend on the new history screen. IMPROVEMENTS • Refined Stress, Recovery and HRV metrics for more consistent results across iPhone and Apple Watch • Clearer charts and trend visualizations BUG FIXES • Fixed cases where a watch complication could keep showing an outdated measurement after a background refresh • More reliable background updates — a new reading is no longer lost if a secondary calculation is interrupted • Recovery score now stays accurate when updated in the background • Various stability and performance improvements Thank you for using HRV Tracker!

Response from developer

It should work. Please contact me for assistance.

Great app

Disagree with the previous reviewer who complained about scientific explanations. Inquiring minds want to know! Thanks for this app. I’ll e supporting you.

What Apple should have built!

This app takes Apple’s raw HRV data and turns it into something meaningful and actionable. Metrics like Stress and Recovery make it much easier to understand what your body is telling you, bringing the experience closer to products like WHOOP while still using the Apple Watch and Apple Health ecosystem.

My only suggestion would be to simplify some of the scientific explanations within the app. Most users don’t need detailed research references or technical terminology. A plain-English explanation focused on what the metrics mean and how to use them would make the app even more approachable. The deeper scientific content could live on the developer’s website for those who want to learn more.

That said, this is an excellent app even in its current form. Beautifully designed, useful, and one of the best Apple Watch health apps I’ve tried.

FAQ

What data does HRV-Tracker need to function?

HRV-Tracker requires AFib History to be enabled on your Apple Watch. This feature significantly enhances beat-to-beat data collection, which is crucial for the app's accurate stress curves, energy tracking, statistics, and personal baselines.

How does HRV-Tracker calculate its scores?

The app calculates an all-day stress score from heart rate and HRV, an Energy reserve based on stress and rest, and a Sleep Score blending duration, continuity, and HRV-based restfulness. Recovery scores are personalized based on a 7-day baseline.

Can I use HRV-Tracker without an Apple Watch?

While HRV-Tracker is designed for both iPhone and Apple Watch, its most meaningful insights are derived from the rich beat-to-beat data collected by the Apple Watch, especially when AFib History is enabled. The iPhone app presents data synced from Apple Health.

What are the dual HRV metrics used by HRV-Tracker?

HRV-Tracker uses both SDNN, the standard deviation of NN intervals from Apple Health, and RMSSD, the root mean square of successive differences calculated from raw beat-to-beat intervals. This provides a comprehensive view of autonomic nervous system activity.

How frequently is HRV-Tracker updated?

The latest version of HRV-Tracker is 1.5, and it was last updated on July 6, 2026. Updates typically focus on improving features, data accuracy, and user experience based on scientific research and user feedback.
