Connecting to a new router

It is extremely difficult to reconnect my X2 controller with a new router. Much more complicated than it should be…

Makin’ It Rain

Easy

Not thought out

App isn’t thought out for the home owner. It’s hard to start and stop watering on days without suspending everything. It’s not end user friendly.

Hydrawise Rain Shutoff Is Unreliable

I have a Hunter Hydrawise irrigation system using a personal weather station located at my own home, which should provide very accurate local rainfall information.

Unfortunately, the automatic rain shutoff feature is not working reliably. We received enough rain to exceed my configured 24-hour rainfall threshold, yet Hydrawise continued with the scheduled watering instead of suspending it. I ultimately had to manually suspend the irrigation zones.

I went through the weather station selection, Water Triggers, Predictive Watering settings, rainfall thresholds, Reports, Events and Alerts. The settings appear correct, but Hydrawise did not generate the expected automatic rain suspension.

This is particularly frustrating because rain-based irrigation control is one of the primary reasons to have a smart irrigation controller. If the system has accurate rainfall data from a weather station located on the property but still waters after sufficient rainfall, something isn’t working as it should.

I otherwise like the capabilities of Hydrawise, but reliable automatic rain shutoff is a fundamental feature that needs to work consistently.

Hunter needs to investigate and correct this issue.

Aborting Incorrectly

It is aborting incorrectly when no rain saying there was rain! Lawn is dying.

Owned since 2020

Little on the expensive side, but well worth the money! Never lets me down, only thing I wish they would bring back the rain gauge!!!

Value

Save and get results by managing watering efficiently.

Controller

I’m having trouble with controller

Excellent remote control

Easy to use

Works, but could use a lot of improvement

Yes, the app adjusts the controller well. It is just very clunky. For instance, to switch from regular watering to a seeding schedule, there are multiple steps just to change the zone’s duration. There should also be a way to enable/disable schedules. This app could be amazing if a little more thought was put into the user experience. Frustrating.

Unhelpful app

This app has been a complete disappointment to use. The interface has absolutely no troubleshooting messages when the controller randomly goes offline and simply has a “Help” button that links to generic product information. The “Help” button does not even link to a dedicated support or troubleshooting page. UI & UX of the app is not user friendly at all. As an example - when attempting to reset my password on my account, the OK button was greyed out without any feedback on the UI to tell the user why the OK button was greyed out (for example if the passwords didn’t match). Terrible experience overall with both the product (the controller) and the unhelpful app.

Worse

You have consistently made it worse

Worst thing ever

This app wasn't designed by an irrigation person nor a UI UX person.I haven't seen anything worse, a software waste, in a last decade.

No support

I have been trying for days to add the wand device. I can’t find anything about the problem I’m having or any way to get real help. I will have to return the thing if I can’t figure it out. I can’t depend on getting actual support.

Great system! Real simple to use and very helpful

Flawless so Far

My dad, who is in his 80s, decided two years ago to get a sprinkler system installed that utilizes the Hydrawise app. It displays actual pictures of your yard that each zone covers, so it makes it easier to run manually or to set the schedule. For an 85-year-old to be able to use any app easily, is a success.

Close butt no cigar

I bought an X2 controller because it has a very user-friendly interface for programming directly on the controller. The other reason I purchased this controller was because it also has remote control and monitoring capability with the purchase of the Wi-Fi module. I had intended to replace numerous controllers with the new X2 controllers until I installed the Wi-Fi module and saw that once you install the Wi-Fi module, you can no longer operate or program the system from the control box, it has to be done through the app. The controllers should be capable of being operated and programmed through either the app or directly on the controller. Please upgrade the X2 controllers to provide this functionality!

Meh - usable but so clumsy

Like so much software from companies whose primary products are hardware, the software suffers from a very awkward user interface. It has some cute features, like animated icons to show that a particular zone is active but creating programs, and more importantly editing them later, is just so awkward.

Even if it’s connected to your internal LAN, if your Internet goes down or the company servers go down, you’re essentially stuck. I wish these companies would allow their hardware to be access directly as well as over the Internet.

Don’t bother trying to email them or otherwise contact them with suggestions. They’re absolutely not listening.
