Good Substitute for Zoom

A basic, participant-only Zoom app. No session-creating options cluttering up the screen. Ads are minimal and easy to ignore (have not tried the premium version.)
The only glitch I have found is that the microphone and camera must be turned on AFTER the session is established. Neither can be set to be “always on.”

Thanks for your feedback. We have updated Participant to include an option under Settings > Advanced where you can have your camera and mic turned on by default.

Love the DJ love the music, Choice

Never disappointed with our teacher and the music selection very thankful to be a part of the group and hope that I can bring something and share with everyone. I realize that my original misunderstanding was all derived from my own insecurity, but I’m very thankful that that’s cleared up again the DJ is fabulous as reflected in the tip that’s left.!

Easy no fuss

The meetings are fun. I worry not about who assumes my content is different. The fact it is it’s easy. It’s smooth it’s private. It’s no worrying no head scratching no wondering what will go wrong it is just smooth participant to smooth and if it works as it does forever. I’ll be grateful. Thank you nothing like

Newest Version is Worst

4.3.8 is a joke. I have a Mac Mini M4 and there are two (one is very crucial) things that do not work: You cannot change the appearance of the app icon to a different color no matter what and when you go into a Room, your camera is SIDEWAYS! WTH?!?! I’m using a Logitech Webcam C925e and unless I want people to see me right side up, I have to turn my webcam on its side. WHAT THE ….?!?!?! Please explain this one.

Sorry that the camera is not working for you. We do not build Participant specifically for the Mac, we only make it available as a convenience for those that need it. We recommend running it on iOS or iPadOS. The issue is probably related to the way the Zoom SDK handles your custom camera, because we have not seen this issue with built-in cameras on MacBooks. I expected much better. The sound was awful, the camera very bad. Saw the back of a girls head for the entire wedding. Just awful. I will never do a zoom again.

Why cannot turn on data saver without paying?-this is a very bad function. And on top of that to change our background you need to pay as well. If this is meant to be an app for meetings there simply can’t be like this. Money scam. (I didn’t buy ‘premium’ because it was a scam).
