Makes me want to SCREAM with anger

When it works, it works well. But a bunch of the accessories will randomly refuse to pair, or stop working. Following myriad different troubleshooting steps (including reaching out to ikea) does not resolve. The products / hub / app are just not designed well enough for them to be reliable. INFURIATING. A number of people from IKEA need to be fired over this.

Very bad experience

I am not recommending IKEA smart products

Surprisingly unreliable mix of software and hardware

I’ve been using wireless devices for years, having Bluetooth gadgets before it was common and people were familiar with the name. I’ve never had as much difficulty pairing devices as with the 2020’s IKEA products. I’ve tried 5 times to add a switch to my system and it’s failed. But I can add the same device using the Matter standard to my Apple Home app on the first try.

Not as practical as it seems

Love Ikea however I’m still in two minds when it comes to their home automation products. Very tricky and temperamental system

4 hours in deep network settings

After 4 hours of resetting networks, a deep dive into network settings, turning off everything but 2.4 gHz, enabling UPnP, eventually with AI help I discovered it’s a known firmware bug for connecting the first ikea matter over thread device. Yikes.
