Hub barely functions

Everything disconnects all the time, plugs show as connected but won’t turn on or off, overall is just a frustrating terrible experience

Requires Dirigera

I’m able to add the air quality sensor motion sensors and smart plugs directly to HomeKit but the ikea home app is useless without buying an extra hub. I have sensors and smart plugs from another brand EVE that works directly with HomeKit and their EVE app to view advanced functions like history of the sensors with out having to by an extra EVE hub.

Fix Google Home integration

The only way to integrate this app with Google Home was to uninstall it. This is unacceptable. The only reason I gave it two stars is because it allows adding other devices to it, if already installed.

Can’t seem to pair remotes

This app seems like it's still in beta. It has many issues from the fact that I first added the hub and then, weeks later, was told to remove the hub from the Apple Home integration, only to discover that the process was incredibly annoying and frustrating.

The app is very buggy. For example when you try and add a remote, it finds the product successfully. You scan the QR code and then after you've set it up it pretty much just stays on this screen that says it's time to join your home. You basically have to start over again and again and again and again. You're better off buying Samsung SmartThings or FLIC

Works great

Now supports Matter. Only issue I have is I am unable to restart/reboot the hub when it has an IP address conflict on the network. Only complaint I have and removed one star as a result.

Don’t bother

Horrific. Some vibe coded slop that never works.

Patience pays off

Works great! I got my Dirigera hub secondhand, and my first Kajplats bulb with a lamp from the As-is area of my local IKEA warehouse. One small/odd issue I’ve found is that between 60% and 99% brightness, my bulb turns green if I have it set to red. At 100% brightness and at or below 59% it correctly shines red. Not sure if this is weirdness with the bulb or the app. I suspect the bulb.

I didn’t expect the setup process to be without issues considering the provenance of my bridge and bulb, and I wasn’t wrong. Setup took several tries, but did eventually succeed after a bit of repetition and process refinement. My advice to others is a failure doesn’t mean it’s broken or you did anything wrong, it just does that sometimes, even if you get all the steps right. Patience pays off with this equipment.

Funktioniert

Meh

Interrupt me mid-work? I’ll give a 1 star review. Otherwise app is fine.

Smart Home, Buggy Tech

The app is great, but many of the new Matter devices are buggy. Every night when we turn the lights off for bed, my wife’s lamp blasts full bright for 0.1 seconds and it’s very startling and strange. Hope they get this fixed with firmware very soon.

Response from developer

Hej! Thank you for reaching out! When we enabled Matter, we also changed how to integrate DIRIGERA into other ecosystems. For Zigbee devices please use Matter bridge functionality. Select add product in your target ecosystem app and then scan/copy the code you get when you enable Matter bridge functionality into IKEA Home smart app./IKEA Home smart

Does not support Google Home - No tech help

I have had this set up for around 2 months now, it is notoriously difficult to connect the new remotes and plugs but eventually they connect, however it does not connect to Google home.

The app only lets you generate a code which Google home does not process. I have phoned Ikea support who didn’t know how to fix it. I went into store and an employee had absolutely no idea what I was taking about even though I was showing him video recordings of the app. He took my number for another employee to call me but they never did. There is never anybody in the lighting section to help.

Overall I have 10 around 10 devices connected and controllable in the IKEA Home Smart App but it is not possible to link with Google home (which was a very important feature for me).

Kajplats turning green when dimming warm colours from 60-99%. Plus Bilresa QR problems

Known issue not fixed for two months: Kajplats bulbs turn green when dimming warm colours from 60-99%. Bilresa is not found in the list either for manual add. The QR code on my box is wrong. You have to lift the back magnetic metal plate to actually find the QR code to add the device.

Not great

Brought a Grillplats plug and says that it cannot connect. Reset the plug (brand new) a few times and after 10 try I give up lol

Reliable can be confusing

Overall satisfactory. Very stable using only 2.4g band and wpa2.

glitchy and buggy

the app is ok... i've used better smart bulb apps. it's slow to link, then you click on a fixture and it selects another one. Super glitchy in that way. There are also no option to cycle the colors, like rainbow, or a limited pallet like most other bulbs/apps offer. i've already invested in this system so it's quite disappointing to see such easily fixable problems go unnoticed.

Not compatible with iOS 26

Lightbulbs will not pair through the app for iOS 26 devices. Lower versions of iOS seem to work ok.

Brilliant.

From connection to control, it’s brilliant. My experience has been almost faultless.

One request for the developers: when lights are grouped and each set of bulbs has a different brightness level, please adjust the behaviour so the ratios remain constant. It’s very close already.

At the moment, when the brightest lamp in the group reaches 100%, the others don’t hold their relative levels (e.g. 80% or 30%). Instead, they continue increasing to 100% as well, which throws off the balance and means you have to recalibrate the whole room.

Please. Fix that and I’ll be super happy.!!!

Worst app of all time

Downloaded thinking I could use it to connect to my LED’s as the stupid things required a “steering device” already, and I was very quickly introduced to the fact that in order to connect my LED’s to the app, I needed to make the external purchase of a “hub” in order to pair it, as bluetooth apparently wasn’t sufficient. I thought that buying from a big brand such as IKEA would surely be hassle free and easy, but I was gravely mistaken. I now have the option between a $70 “hub” or a $80 dollar “steering device” thanks to your silly app, and I think i’m going to go with “return” as I seem to be left with no other option. Horrible app, and purchase, waste of time and money. 1 star…

Requires Hub

Using new IKEA Matter over Thread devices works fine in HomeKit but they’re unable to be simultaneously viewed in the IKEA app without their $100 Hub. Features such as power monitoring in the smart plugs are therefore unable to be accessed. Huge miss.
