Exactly what I need: external support

I’ve tried to write a longer, fancier, nicer, more detailed review of Jomo but my app always kicks me out or something before I can hit send. In a nutshell: the whole point of this app that makes it work so well is we as individuals can’t easily fight against a bunch of wealthy companies’ algorithms designed to grab and hold our attention. Willpower didn’t stop my phone addiction; I needed external support. This app does it almost perfectly. Sounds like I’m getting paid for this review, but yes I do actually recommend other people download it — unpopular opinion but everyone of every age will live a better life if we stop doomscrolling and avoiding people.

The most intuitive app blocker

I never write reviews but this is one of the most important apps in my life!

The way they’ve designed options on how to block your apps & schedules is very intuitive. It just makes sense and is a joy to use. Has all the features you’d want and expect and allows the perfect level of control over your digital life.

Highly recommend!!

Life changing app for me

As someone who procrastinates a lot this app actually has finally helped. It forces you to stop using your phone which i’ve loved.

Recommend it guys!

Will not let you edit

Sometimes I need to add more time to the app that I block, and it simply will not let me. I don’t have it programmed to not let me. It is a glitch. 90% of the time I do not have a need to add more time but occasionally something comes up and it’s really frustrating that I can’t easily just add five more minutes when that happens. Feeling like an app is controlling me is the exact thing I’m trying to get away from.

Set your rules and get your time back!

Love the app, feel it’s very detailed oriented but user friendly as well. Much simpler than Opal and far cheaper as well. I like how I can see my exact screen time on each app and build rules and pattern interrupts for those particular vices. Also really like the habit builder as I have to go for a walk every morning before I get stuck using my phone.

As an IG addicted 21 year old…

I love this app. I was using a free trial from Opal, but the $99.99 yearly price tag was a little out of my student budget.

I was also on Instagram for 5-6 hours A DAY… Safe to say I’m a recovering social media addict.

Then I scanned a screen time blocker sub-Reddit and was intrigued by Jomo (especially seeing it’s independently run and woman co-owned). It has a ton of features like continuous app blocking, screen time intention setting, routine building, and more. I can honestly see how the settings could be customized for any routine or lifestyle.

Plus it’s only $29.99 a year compared to $99.99, and mine was only $14.99 with their student discount.

Disclaimer: I’m not a longtime user, only 3 days so far, but I can say that I’ve seen an improvement in my reading time and my presence in conversations, both of which are important in my life.

If you’re on the fence, I’d say just get Jomo. Even if you’re not a fan of every single feature, it’ll help you take some of your time back 🫂💕

Best screen time app

Tried all other screen time apps, this one the best by far. Has granular controls for rules so I can customize to fit my needs. Great UX and reasonable price !

Great but UI a bit complicated

Took me a while to figure out the UI. I think they should make it easier to activate or deactivate a rule based on your location.

New update

The new habits is horrible

Wonderful!

I’ve been using the template called “Brick Phone Mode” to reduce my excessive phone use and I love it. I also love using the app locks feature to lock shopping apps since I have a serious impulse spending problem. Overall I would say the $29.99/yr fee is well worth it and the price is much more reasonable compared to Opal’s $99.00/yr fee. I love that this app has features that add friction to make you think if you really want to access a specific shopping site or not. I am very pleased with my experience so far!

Normally Great

Got the update today and the redeem function for earning time isn’t working for me. It still wont allow me to open up the apps which sucks.

Does not sync with the ap

You have to continuously create the same rules and blocks time and time again, nothing syncs. This should be so basic

Life-changing app

Started using JOMO over 2.5 years ago and it has changed my relationship with my phone and social media as a whole. I pay for the annual Memebership and I truly believe it is so worth it year after year espically as someone working SMM ; being intentional with my user experience is so important me! If you’re on the market for an incredible app to block apps, JOMO is that GIRL 🥹🤍

Onboarding

Was für ein blödes Onboarding. Viele Sinnlose Fragen beantworten.

Response from developer

– Laureline

Jomo 2.0.0 👑

In this day and age, I've come to realize that my priorities are to not sell my free time and attention anymore on internet junkfood and to spend more time with the people I cherish and on things that really matter. Jomo is the stake that frees you from the fangs of these vampiric entertainment and social media companies. Thank you Laureline & Thomas, keep it up as its very admirable work you’re doing! ^^

You’ve quite frankly changed and saved my life in a huge way! Xoxo

Great app

I’m trying out this app rn and it works great! Much better than the other options, especially with the strict mode. There is one issue I found though. It’s really easy to bypass. All you have to do is go into settings and remove the screen time permission from it. Though I’m not sure if that’s possible to fix. Lovely app though, maybe I’ll just block the settings app lol
