Terrible when things go wrong

I have been using Just Eat for a while and everything has been fine until recently where I had a food delivery that was incredibly late. I tried to cancel the order but was unable to since the restaurant had allegedly started the order. When the food did arrive, it was cold and inedible. I sought a refund but received a reply that I couldn’t get one. No reason offered. This is unacceptable and lazy. It seems to me that they are happy as long as they get their money and the restaurant gets theirs and to hell with the customer. I will look for an alternative delivery company.
