Effective

The app has kept me from spending more time than I wanted on YouTube, both by forcing me to decide if I really want to start watching and by reminding me when my predetermined watch time is up. It works!

I’m speechless.

GET. LOOK. NOW! Its made it possible for me to put socials and other apps in their proper place—not the center of my day. I was spending 4-6 hours a day checking socials, espn, NYT, Amazon, the list goes on. Bored, scroll. One free minute, scroll. Bleary eyed and past my bedtime, scroll. Not anymore. LOOK gives me time back to focus on things I truly love to learn about. It gives a chance to set my intention and focus for the day, and helpful ways to get myself back on track if I decide to lose points; even restoring them by taking a simple action to refocus. I’m speechless trying to describe how much LOOK has done to get me into my life and away from the chaos and void that is scrolling. Thank you, LOOK!

It actually works

I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app before but this app is amazing. I installed it several days ago and have seriously curbed my scrolling. I see that the app I want to limit is greyed out, so I think twice about using it. But since I know I CAN use it if I choose, it doesn’t feel forbidden so I don’t feel stressed about it. Can’t wait to see the future features! It’s a winner.

Really helped me!

I’ve tried all the other blockers and schedulers out there but I always ended up deleting them. I love how this app doesn’t lock you out entirely but helps you be more intentional and reconsider if this is really a good choice. I’ve been doing the meditations instead of scrolling and I love earning points and they are also really helpful. I’ve never done meditations like this before and I really like them!

Wanted to love it

I wanted to love this app but the buttons on the “redirects” never work rendering it useless and permanently locking me out of all the apps I’ve selected to have redirected. So defeats the purpose when I’m trying to limit use of these apps not make it impossible.

Response from developer

We would love for you to give LOOK another try! The problem you experienced is likely because you either have a Focus Mode on or don't have LOOK Notifications enabled. Either of those will cause those buttons on the Shield Screen not to work. We have an explanation for how to fix this in our FAQs (which you can find under your profile in the LOOK app). I will go ahead and paste them below. If you are interested, here is a more detailed explanation for what you experienced: The buttons on the Shield Screen are owned by Apple. The only way we can use those buttons to Redirect you is by linking them to a LOOK notification, which then takes you to our Redirects or lets you set a Time Limit. If you have not enabled LOOK notifications or are in a focus mode then the buttons won't work. We know, it's not our ideal flow either, but the best we can do given Apple's limitations. We love being in focus mode because we don't love a constant stream of notification, so we like to set up a custom focus mode that only allows notifications from LOOK. I'll paste how to do that below too. We are really bummed you didn't have a great experience with LOOK. Intercepting and redirecting is not an easy thing to build into the iPhone given Apple's restrictions. We would love for Apple to give developers more control over how those buttons work. Hopefully they will and in the future the flow will not have to depend on notifications being enabled. If you have any additional questions we would love for you to send us an email at developers@looktheapp.com. Thank you for taking the time to post this review! - Tait & Jenny ■FAQS: ■WHEN I CLICK “LOSE POINTS” OR "KEEP POINTS" NOTHING HAPPENS? 1. Make sure you are not in a Focus Mode. Swipe down from the top right corner of your phone to open Control Center. Tap the Focus button (it might say Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work, etc.). Check to make sure all the focus modes are off. If a focus mode is on it is highlighted, tap to turn it off. 2. Make sure LOOK notifications are enabled. Open Settings on your iPhone. Tap Notifications. Scroll down and tap LOOK. Make sure you have these settings: -"Allow Notifications" toggled ON -Under "Alerts", make sure all three (Lock Screen, Notification Center, Banners) are CHECKED -"Sounds" toggled ON (if you want) -Badges toggled ON -Show Previews set to Always -Notification Grouping set to Automatic 3. Make sure Notifications Scheduled Summary is off. Open Settings on your iPhone. Tap Notifications. Schedule Summary should be OFF. If you prefer to leave it on, make sure LOOK is not selected in the list of apps included in the summary. NOTE: Apple Intelligence may be turning on different focus modes on its own. See question below to learn how to circumvent this. ■HOW CAN I SET UP A FOCUS MODE WHERE ONLY LOOK NOTIFICATIONS COME THROUGH BUT I WON’T BE BOTHERED BY OTHER NOTIFICATIONS? 1. Go to Apple Settings and tap Focus 2. Tap the + sign at the top right corner 3. Tap Custom 4. Name your focus LOOK, pick a color, and tap Next 5. Tap Customize Focus 6. Don’t select “Intelligent Breakthrough & Silencing” 7. Tap “Choose Apps” 8. If you don’t see LOOK there, tap “Add apps” and select LOOK 9. Smart Activation should be Off ■HOW DO I STOP APPLE INTELLIGENCE FROM AUTOMATICALLY ENABLING FOCUS MODES? Option 1: Turn off Smart Activation. Open Settings. Tap Focus. Select the Focus mode that’s turning on automatically (e.g., Do Not Disturb, Sleep, etc.). Scroll down and tap Smart Activation. Toggle it off. Repeat for each Focus mode that is turning on by itself. Option 2: Turn off Apple Intelligence (newer phones only). If the behavior continues and you don’t use other Apple Intelligence features: Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri (or Apple Intelligence, depending on iOS version). Toggle "Apple Intelligence" off.

Great app

This was really impressive! Making it a game really motivated me because I hate to lose lol. Love the daily cards as well!

The app that gives your life back

The digital age, for all its glittering promises of connection and convenience, has made us lonely. LOOK is a friend and guide in this wilderness; reminding us screen addiction is less a crisis of willpower than a byproduct of design: persuasive architectures built not for human flourishing, but for monetized distraction. We swipe not because we want to, but because the interface has trained us, eyes glazed. LOOK emerges as sanctuary here, an invitation to reclaim the rhythm of our days.  Each morning begins with a “mini mission,” prompting creativity and reflection. These aren’t tasks to checked off, but invitations to inhabit a life more authentically. (It’s gamified, so you get points and money because we live in a world where you need to buy things to live.) But the true reward lies in the moments of clarity and connection that these nudges foster. This is a digital companion that respects our autonomy while guiding us towards balance and the richness of our offline lives. By encouraging us to look up, look around, and look within, LOOK pushes us toward the beauty of the moment when we set our devices down, and turn our gaze toward each other.

Meditation too!

LOOK gets it! Just trying to white knuckle it and try not scroll is too hard. We need help feeling better in other ways. I love that I get support with guided meditations on this app. The redirects help me recharge and switch my attention to something other than my phone. Overall feeling much more focused and energized.

Calm & Collected

I love how Look gives me an alternative to using my social media apps by providing actual meditation and breathing sessions right within the Look app!
The collectable cards look cool and I’ve been inspired by the positive messages they show me daily.
Great app!

So cool!

A great creative way to help screen addiction. Haven’t seen anything like it before. Love the aesthetics and layout of the app.

Best app for focus!

Look is exactly what I was looking for. It’s already helping me focus more on what matters!!

Just what I needed

I always ignored the instagram time limits and spent waaaayy too much time on reels, but look’s redirects actually work for me. 🤣 Can’t wait until the r&r tool is launched! 😴

Response from developer

We're so glad the redirects are actually working where other approaches haven't! It's funny how we can just dismiss those built-in time limits, but our redirects are designed using behavioral psychology principles. They work by interrupting the autopilot pattern and giving your brain a moment to make a conscious choice. We hear you on the r&r tool! We're excited to get that launched too and can't wait for you to try it out. Thanks for sticking with us and sharing what's working! - Tait & Jenny

Fun path to a balanced online life

Finally! An app that helps with online behavior while also making it fun. Uses modern gamification strategies to give us back our time. Don’t hesitate - download!

Love it!!

My relationship with my phone and social media has improved so much since downloading Look! I love the aesthetics and colors of the app as well!

Look the app helps me save time

Been using look the app for a while now and what I like most is getting time back with my family and friends

Finally stopped doom scrolling

The gamification actually makes being present feel good. The low-pressure nudges are way less annoying than screen timeouts—probably because they’re grounded in science.

If you’re trying to be more present or cut back on doomed , this actually helped me.

Love Look!

Just started using it and it’s a game changer! Much more engaged with my family. Thanks Look!
