Scam

They overcharged me, I rented 2 bikes for 35 and they charged me 3 times instead of 2, they also charged me an extra $16 and another $10. They just stole my money.

Not helpful

It is impossible to rent a second bike

Expensive and works quite badly

Not worth it just get your own bike

Uncomfortable

I never ride such a uncomfortable bike , handling and seats worse bike seats winner of the world, what a waste they never test these bikes

Scam

This service is an entire scam. I signed up two weeks ago. First week went smoothly. This second week, however, I suddenly find myself in a bike void with no bikes available at nearby stations in the morning (before 8:30am). It’s not even Friday and I’ve already had to commute to work via bus and walking.

I contacted “customer support” and they were kind enough to tell me that while they were sorry for “my inconvenience,” they weren’t about to refund any remaining membership. They did tell me I could turn off Auto Renew if I felt that strongly about it, and told me I could enjoy my membership perks for the remainder of the month. Can’t wait to use my “membership perks” on all those non-existent bikes nearby.

Garbage bikes, garbage support and expensive

Can’t get past login

I’m extremely disappointed and frustrated that I can’t get past the login screen. Every time I try using my phone number or email which is tied to Lyft, the app claims I have no account. This is extra troubling because I received a code to try the app free for one month at a local cycling event and clearly I’ll be unable to redeem it any time soon. I also tried to create a new account but seeing as I only have one phone number like a normal person, I get stuck at the same spot. Tired of all these texts with codes that don’t actually do anything and no way to reach someone about solving this issue.

Awful experience

Ended my trip at a dock that apparently did not work, spend 20 minutes texting the worst costumer support ever who could not do anything. I was vey nice, sent pictures and explained. They ghosted me ending the conversation with “you have to drive the bike to a different station” (15 mins walk from my destination)
Wasted 40 minutes of my life! Take Uber or Waymo please!

Exorbitant

It is usually cheaper to just get an uber than use this app. I don’t know how baywheels justifies these ridiculous prices.

Bad bikes, bad app and bad support

Advertised functions like renting two bikes via one account are not implemented in the app.
E-bike broke down in the middle of my ride. No e-assist or lights were working anymore. No support was given. That is dangerous and annoying.

Day Pass was so misleading

I wanted to take a 30-minute ride, but the app offered me a Day Pass for $15. I decided to try and extend my ride, thinking I had unlimited time. I was shocked to be charged an additional $75 at the end of the trip!! It turns out you have to lock and unlock the bike every 30 minutes. The Day Pass ad was extremely misleading, the 30-minute limit was buried in details. I would never have used it if I had known that a few hour ride would end up costing more than a brand-new bicycle. I feel scammed.

Absolute Abzocke

Versteckte Kosten!

I love the idea and have used the bikes a few times with the lyft app. So I pay a yearly fee, scan a bike on this app, and my phone gets stuck in a loop of trying to tap to pay and it won’t even turn off, I har to let the battery die to use it again. Had a dinner reservation but couldn’t rent a bike and couldn’t use my phone to call an uber. If you don’t support a phone model, don’t let me buy your subscription! I will be following up for a refund.

Deceptive and misleading business practices

Deceptive and misleading business practices. They have a $15 day pass. Says unlimited… but surprise!!! You have to pay the day pass AND per minute fees. Cost us $60. Customer service provides no help. Buyer beware.

I love Bay Wheels

Spending a few months in SF for school and got the Bay Wheels membership. Such a fantastic way to get around the city; it’s better than walking and is almost always faster than taking an Uber.

I also joined the Bike Angels program and was able to earn points that I redeemed for weekly membership extensions. Highly recommend joining (it’s free), as you can also redeem for Lyft ride credit and other nice rewards.

For $30 I’ve had 2 months of unlimited free bike rides everywhere - can’t get much better than that!

App payment issues

I was rushing to work for a meeting, and suddenly got a notification that it couldn’t process payment. It could have warned me earlier? I also had multiple cards on Apple Pay but it didn’t detect them

I’ve been a member for 1.5 years and spent $500 on this, so I don’t know why they need to cause issues for $2 and make me late to work

Day pass is misleading

If you are a tourist do not use this app. A so called ‘day pass’ isn’t for the whole day. It’s for loads of 30 minute rides. Confused, yep we all were too. The customer service is absolutely shocking. We used in San Francisco and being tech capital of the world the tech is USELSS. Problems with the app and docking stations. Stay away and hire a bike from blazing saddles.

Customer Support Extremely incompetent

I tried exporting my bills so I could get them refunded by my firm. I had to manually select all my rides only to realize the export button does not work properly. I reached out to the customer support. They made me wait for several minutes and offer no resolution in the end. I ended up wasting 30 minutes.

Widgets Don’t Work (IOS18)

Just upgraded to IOS18 and discovered the widget doesn’t work well - the core functionality is good (scanning bikes, maps, etc..)

The widget offers more glanceable / faster way to scan for frequent users, but it appears to be broken.

A couple of issues:
1) manual refresh causing a reload loop (blinks)
2) sometimes ignores choice of station and reports a random station
3) no place in app for non-ride related issues
4) stale information on station supply that doesn’t seem to refresh (even after opening the app to confirm)

Otherwise love it.
