Nest is terrible now
My review is nest in general is terrible. When it first came out, the user had control. Over the years the need to subscribe ruined it all for us. The cameras are basically useless without the subscription and you won’t be able to access recordings. The thermostat if connected to the internet will give full control to your utility company and the house will be at the mercy of the power company. I hope you like 80 degrees when you get home too you go to bed! Turning off the feature is temporary and or won’t do anything at all. We bought the nest protect units to replace our old smoke detectors too. Guess what? They EXPIRE!! 4 times the price of a smoke and co2 detector and if you don’t read the invisible print, you may have just bought a unit (or 4) that have been on the shelves longer than they will be in your house due to expiration. Once expired, they are trash. Not refurbish-able.
So if you aren’t already neck deep in their products like we were already, STAY AWAY. 10 years ago they were the best. Today, horrible!!

Waste of money

My Florida cameras - without thinking I selected a move to transfer them to Google home. It was a mistake and want to go back to this Nest site
Generally functional
On the schedule view, Monday is half-covered. There needs to be a way to manage the system when wifi goes out.
Missing options
I like the product but there are a few things missing. No I won’t be buying them again unless they send an update to all the existing ones.
So my first complaint is the app doesn’t tell me which one has a low battery. I just get a yellow blinking light that comes on all of them.
My second issue is they don’t have a carbon monoxide detector built in. I feel if I were to spend that kind of money on a system it should have a carbon monoxide detector built in not just a smoke detector.
My last complaint is they are way to expensive to just be a smoke detector that is linked. They should be selling for under $50 bucks.

Program
I love the fact I can have it set to drop the temp while she’s asleep. I don’t have to listen to her complain about how cold it is. I mean really!!! Is 72° cold? No! At the firehouse it was set to 68°. That’s the only thing I miss about work.

Will adjust the thermostat randomly.Not a fan(pun).

Why the f would you want a thermostat that decides what temperature your house is on its own
Nest
Makes my life easier and more comfortable. I can program preset settings or control temperature at the touch of my phone. I can turn on or off from where I’m at. I can do this away from home too before I get home so my house is comfortable when I arrive. I highly recommend adding to your house.
Broken again
Scrolling video fixed (thank you) but visitor voice announcements from the nest doorbell to the nest mini / hub have now stopped working.
Conserve
My favorite feature on the Nest is “schedule” to help conserve energy at times when I’m not going to be home. I wish there was a way to do multiple days at the same time instead of each one individually.
Google screwed it up
Nest was good until Google decided to buy them. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to give Google anymore access than it already has. About every other time I open the nest App I am prompted to create a google account for my thermostats.
Nest wired doorbell camera
It’s always buffering on the video I’m interested in viewing. It doesn’t record for days! I just had my internet provider come out this week and give me a new router and modem, thinking maybe that was the issue. Plus I switched to the Home App upgrade and the camera STILL DOESN’T WORK PROPERLY!!! As I’m typing this the camera is offline! Everything else in the house is working fine except the Google Nest doorbell. What is the point in having a camera that doesn’t work!!!!!

Too rigid
When we go away I want to set my thermostat at 78. The eco setting takes it to 80. Too warm for humid Florida. So I have to change my whole schedule. I won’t buy another nest

Love My Nest Cameras!
I've got 8 Nest IQ outdoor cameras and I even use them inside. The 24/7 recording and scrubbing feature hands down beats my Ring recording. I've had them for years and can't live without them. They even helped catch a criminal for my neighbors! Its a necessity in this world now; its not "optional" anymore. The police don't so much now without a video of the crime! Make sure you keep us grandfathered in for the 24/7 recording with the scrubbing feature. Otherwise I’ll have to find new cameras that allow that. Do not take that away from us!!!!
