Garbage customer support
Extremely sub-par communication paired with no live agents unless you’re actively buying, combined with ZERO follow up by the company after being directed to a customer support line that.. just doesn’t answer or respond to voicemails! If you have a masochism fetish, this is the company for your home lending needs!

Access Shortcut
Was in middle of checking my account and screen went black. Went to Apps and found NewRez but cannot get shortcut back. What’s going on???
Old school outdated bank and app
If you like your accounts interconnected, Newrez will be a painful one. They do not modernize to accommodate any of that. Even linking banks just for transferring, you’re locked into having to write up the account and routing numbers like it’s 1999. Boomer Dinosaurs are running Newrez. Pathetic.
Broken version?
App doesn’t login in for either Apple OR Android. I had to use a web browser to make a payment today.

For days I have been unable to sign in to my account to make my monthly mortgage payment.

I tried to make a monthly payment on line after the transfer my loan to newrez they talkme i am no able to do because I have a modification on 2014 after that iI do my payment on time and never have aany problem with phh mortgage now they said I have to make my payment by phone like a punish for modification on 2014 I hope they fix that for his customer on the digitalera

Stop forcing me to update once a month
There’s no reason why I should be forced to update the app to use it.
I’ve been deleting apps that do this and this one is next to go.
I go on here once a month to pay my mortgage and lately I’ve had to update it each time.

Late payments
Can you create a way that payments can be made to catch up late payment fees without trying to force a onetime payment? I would like to pay extra each month to catch that up but your app won’t allow it…it’s all or nothing. Thank you.

Not receiving six-digit verification code!
Myself and others (based on similar reviews above and below mines), are not able to access our accounts on Apple devices!
We are not receiving a six-digit verification code via sms and the “Re-send Code” feature, doesn’t work either!
It’s not my carrier or any settings blocking Newrez, as I’m still receiving sms verification codes from my banks and other companies I deal with, and I’m pretty sure other Newrez customers can relate.
I never had this issue with the Shellpoint app. Unfortunately, my account was merged into Newrez and I can’t use the Shellpoint app anymore.

Amateur developer! Flop
Never sends Sms code to cell to login. This app is miserable to use Starting with the login. This is only 1 issue out of more as you login. Read most recent reviews and decide for yourself.
Worst app ever
Nothing have ever loaded. I get an error occurred try again in a few minutes. I have NEVER been able to load anything in the app since I got my mortgage in July 2025. I’m trying to move my mortgage somewhere else that’s how frustrating the online services are. Tech support is non existent. This company needs to invest in its online services.

App: fine NewRez: atrocious
If you don’t want to read the whole review, I’ll summarize: if you can do anything to find a different mortgage provider, do it. NewRez is difficult and impossible to work with.
Unfortunately, after I financed my home my loan was sold to NewRez. I used the app to pay my mortgage, and it worked fine for doing that. Unfortunately, we lost our home to a fire in 2024. My insurance company was excellent through the process. My new home builder was perfect, although the process was lengthy. NewRez made things difficult at every turn, and ultimately delayed us being able to move into our new rebuilt home.
But that’s not even why I hate them with the intensity of 1000 suns. After our home was replaced, my county required that I merge my two lots, because the new home sits slightly closer to our detached garage, both of which are on separate lots. I started THIS process back in November of 2024. I had to get consent forms signed from several entities, including my utility providers and NewRez. It took me all of three days to get every consent forms signed except NewRez. One of the things NewRez required was an appraisal, ordered by them, which cost $1300. I did this, and finally in November of 2025, NewRez signed the consent form. The next step is signing and notarizing the final agreement. I have been submitting this document to NewRez through their online portal repeatedly and I never get a response, other than the auto reply saying I will hear back from them in 7-10 business days.
It is not possible to speak to anyone on the phone other than the general help line, who will NOT connect me to the partial release department. My county wants this consolidation completed, but there is nothing I can do to make NewRez sign the agreement.
Also, when the appraisal was done, my home had increased in value to the point where I should no longer have to pay PMI. I requested NewRez to remove the PMI, and they said I need to pay $190 to get a valuation done. Nobody I speak to on the phone can understand that my appraisal is more accurate than the Broker Price Opinion they want me to pay again for.
tl;dr: the app is fine, and NewRez may be ok as long as nothing ever goes wrong. If anything does go wrong, God help you. I hope your luck with this garbage company is better than mine.

Difficult app
App keeps asking me to download even though I downloaded it . Several days ago I got on. Today I cannot access.
Just trying to check my balance. Cannot access my account. Just sends me to open the app. When I open the app it goes nowhere! Worthless mobile access and app.

Can you go on the app and pay your mortgage? Yes. Does it offer much more no.
Does it have an extra features other loan companies have? No. The previous company that held my loan their app had ability to see an amortization schedule that would allow you to input extra payments and see how that would affect your loan over time.
The company in general isn’t that great either but you don’t get to choose who buys your loan. Would I ever pick them or refinance through them definitely no.

Loan disappeared
Loan disappeared from app and browser. Can’t give them money. Have to try looking up loan but I have to go find loan number. Why did my loan just disappear
Slow unreliable
The app has my mortgage but as soon as I select it, the app never uploads my mortgage information. Always loading so I just go online and use that instead. I’ve reinstalled the app too and it didn’t make a difference. Very disappointing
I can logging in but can’t do much more
I don’t know if is because it can’t verify or not but I can log in but it won’t show almost nothing once Im logged, I have to keep using the web version since the app won’t allow me to see or make payment
