New update sucks
new update is so useless. has made the app more inaccessible when it was already quite crowded. glitches every time I open it and there just wasn’t any point to it. I’m echoing everything people are saying about it. sad to say but going to delete the app

I loved opal for a little bit but whatever they did to it just downgraded it so much. Now theres a limit of how many apps/ websites you can block at a time, you can just block everything anymore. I can’t see anything else on the app when a timer is going. They don’t give you breaks anymore. I really liked they made you do a brain game in order to get to whatever timer is going and o haven’t seen that at all. From all the other latest reviews it’s clear that nobody likes this and i really hope they fix it.

Terrible update
My family of 5 used to LOVE Opal, but since the update, every single one of us is having issues with it and they all seem to be different issues. It won’t block the correct amount of time, won’t block at all when it is set to block, and the interface is not user-friendly AT ALL. I’m emailing to ask for my money back. I can’t even use it at this point.

Hi so I was using opal and it like unblocked all my apps that I had bought so I tried to fix it. It won’t so I have to delete it and re-download it. I love this app but maybe just fix that thank you bye🤍🤍🤍🤍
New update is awful
Whatever version this is will be the reason I uninstall - it's SO clunky and mysterious, makes simple actions entirely too vague and dumb. I've been using Opal for years (? - a long time) and I'm so sad to have to find a new app that does the same thing but with better design. Ugh. Uninstalling...
Terrible update
Used to really like this app as it was very effective at reducing my screen time. However this latest update is so glitchy and half the features that were so good about it have been nerfed. There was literally no need to change the software and then they just went and ruined it.
not working right
i used to love this app. it's great for setting limits for yourself and managing screen time. i have daily blocks and time limits for instagram and tiktok. but i post on tiktok on a regular schedule, so i rely on the ability to unblock the app to use it at least once a day. recently when i go to unlock the app or reset my daily limit (40 minutes) it doesn't work. the app stays locked and i can't get it unlocked. this issue is making me consider deleting :/

New Update Ruined Performance
I know a lot was changed but it came at the detriment of the app’s performance. Cannot use this without the app freezing or lagging. It has become borderline unusable. Real shame!

New update
Yeah, not a fan of the new update. I don’t like the “scores” because they don’t mean anything to me. I liked opening the app and seeing my screen time, easily being e to change my gem, and also, I liked the scoreboard between you and friends. The only reason why I haven’t deleted it is because I have hopes that they’ll undo the update. Another thing, how come when I start a timer to focus, I can’t look at other things on Opal without having to leave the timer? I want to be able to set up a new rule or do a different clock blocker and I can’t because I have a timer going. Also, I feel like the app just doesn’t do what it was meant to do. I get notifications of “maybe you should get off your phone” which doesn’t deter me. It’s easier to unblock things, and things stay blocked even when they aren’t supposed to. If Opal sees this, please go back to the old version of the app.

Update Ruined This App
I have been a continuous user of Opal for about a year and a half now, as a graduate student it was perfect for scheduling focus blocks within my day. I even used it with Apple Focus Settings to put my entire phone into “Intense Focus Mode”. This most recent update simply does not work. I can’t seem to block apps in the same way and making schedules is near impossible. After previously being a raving customer, I’m deleting the app and on the search for something better. Don’t waste your money or honestly phone storage on this app.

App is fundamentally changed for the worse
I don’t understand, but they use to have such a good UI and now it seems like most cherished features like “breathe before you exit,” and a ten second countdown, have been removed and replaced with the “press button and hold for three seconds”.
I don’t like this app.
It won’t let me delete the app. Look I like it well kinda but I don’t want it anymore.

This app was amazing until whatever changes were done in the last couple weeks or month. Structure is really annoying and inconvenient. The layout of everything before was simple and easy to use, and easier to look at.
The New Update made me delete the app
I absolutely loved opal. I used it for a little over a year. The screen time features were free and the app was easy to navigate. And my screen time went down substantially. However, Recently, opal updated. I tried to get used to the new format but the resources I used to keep me off my phone were all gone or behind paywalls. I feel like Opal has sacrificed Integrity for profit and that is very disappointing to me.

The audacity to charge 100$+/year for smartphone app. This needs to stop. (Or worse when charged by weeks, weeks???)
update breaks everything
This app has been great but a recent update made the entire UI worse, and my blocks don’t work until I open the app each day. Also, pausing my blocks is broken.
