Don’t you dare send me that wretched customer service link

Genuinely one of the worst apps I’ve used. I’ve had it for a few years and it’s never worked, and the creators haven’t bothered updating it even after all these reviews. It’s like they found some demented 80 year old who can’t even use the photo app on a phone and were like “yeah, that’s our app guy”. 9/11 was less of a tragedy than this. Honestly, you don’t even need this foul excuse for an app. At least on iPhone, the hearing aid connection already lets you adjust volume and presets. That’s all I really need. Shame on you guys at cochlear, go sit in a corner for 20 minutes and think about what you did.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the frustration you've experienced with the Nucleus Smart App and understand how disappointing it can be when an app does not perform as expected, especially when it plays an important role in managing your hearing experience. We want to assure you that we are aware of the app behavior being reported by some users and our teams are actively investigating the situation. We recognize the impact these issues can have on daily use and are working to better understand the root cause and identify potential improvements. We appreciate your candid feedback, as it helps us understand the challenges our users are facing. While we know this does not resolve your experience today, please know that your concerns have been heard and are being taken seriously. Thank you again for sharing your experience with us.

Tracking

The app itself is really good but I have lost my OSIA because the smart app doesn’t actually help you find the device because it is from the last time you opened it. It would be very appreciated if we could get our OSIA back and if they can fix the tracking but the app itself is good.

Suggestions

I haven’t used the app too much yet but Ive gotten to play around with it and there are some things that I think would make the app 100 times better and some issues I’ve come across. First is the volume because you cant bring the volume to an absolute zero but if you change the volume through the apple accessories settings you cant bring it to a zero. Second when you make a favorite you can’t change to that favorite with the device you have to go to the app for that. Third my main reason for being here is a suggestion that you should add apple shortcuts support because i have this little device that can send texts and it’s a hassle to have to go and get my other phone out just too change your volume or something so of you added shortcuts you could make a shortcut so when I receive a text from this device, it can change the volume or change the favorite that it is on or like you could make it so when you arrive at a school or work it automatically switches to a mode that is better suited for conversations. Anyway i think these changes would make the app a lot better and more customizable for different people. Key take away add shortcuts!!!

Connection is Awful

The connection is horrible. One day my processors will be connected to the app and the next day, they randomly disconnect from it. I have gone 3 months with them not being able to connect. It’s really frustrating. I changed my batteries and had them touching my phone as well as tried to connect them while they were on my head. Still nothing. Please make the connection better.

I finally have to say something

I guess I’ll start from the updated change. I really like the older versions layout. I did have to sign in to access the new setup. I was at a family event when it had rolled out and was fiddling for over an hour trying to get my Osia’s to stay connected. Replacing the batteries, opening and closing the doors. My phone is set up to remember the original connection so even trying forget device didn’t work at the time. It would stay connected briefly then disconnect. I was left apologizing to family members. Letting them know that I wasn’t ignoring them and explaining to them what I had been trying to do on my phone. I have come to notice that unless I keep the app open in the background the setting doesn’t stay the same and it takes a bit for the connection to be made. Also sometimes it won’t show that it’s connected to one side and even sometimes that one of my devices isn’t verified. I’ve had my Osia’s since the end of 2024, surgery was 9/25/24. So I know it isn’t my hearing devices themselves. The other issues I’ve had I have made with adjustments on my phones settings, whether that be through headphones or hearing aid settings through accessibility. My overall experience with this new update has not been enjoyable. Beings this is the app the HAS to be used, I bumped it to 3 stars as a thank you for the development and having it available. Do consider reworking it, please. I wouldn’t mind at all if there’s anything needed help in developing.

Sincerely,
Jen
