Default SMS charges
Over the years on occasions system flicks the SMS notifications on, charging extra.
This is the first time I had to go into account settings to switch it off.
Although the toggle on the booking page was set to off, the charge was added. Flicking the toggle added extra charge
Feels increasingly like a scam.
Update: PayByPhone got in touch offering discussion through a generic contact page that does not offer direct contact.
Automation is great, but customer support is priceless.
I’ve paid £0.60 for this, how many more people unwittingly paid £0.20 and decided not to question it, as it is a minute sum?
But it all goes to a single kitty…
Update: the company responded promptly giving dead link and generic contact detail, either of which make it impossible to resolve the issue.
I double checked my account, my email address and phone number ate there. Strange that they are not using it…

Non functional
After happily using this app for years, it has not worked for the past month or so. It doesn’t recognize the parking zone making it unusable. Moved on to another app.
Always tracking you
Unless you turn location services to ask every time you open the app, the app is always tracking your location. Burns thru your phone battery for no reason.

Once I parked in Miami-Dade and the app was down and I couldn’t login paybyphone to pay, it was activated about an our later and I paid, but of course I got a ticked (they put the tickets via wifi) and did not leave anything in my dashboard, I complained to the M-D Sect of Courts & didn’t care, now I have lawyers trying to collect payment Unacceptable!!!

Things to improve!
Each new update seems to fix one thing but break two others. It feels like there's no easy way for users to report issues or suggest improvements. The parking location name at the top of the booking page has been replaced with the council name. Why? What's the logic behind this? It was much more useful when it displayed the actual parking location. It worked perfectly before, but now it doesn't. Another issue is that it's still not possible to save a default parking duration in a user's profile. The default is always set to minutes, so users have to change it every time they book a session. Finally, "Favourites" and "Recents" are still listed under "Park at nearest location." That doesn't make any sense. Users' favourite or recent parking locations are not necessarily the nearest ones, so this grouping is confusing and misleading.
EDIT: It is not possible to get any assistance via your chatbot - it’s the dumbest thing I’ve dealt with. It refuses to connect to an agent, keeps asking to repeat details, and then gives nothing in return. Why don’t you pass this feedback to your reps yourselves? This is absolutely a joke.

Awful quality app
Even though I have cell phone signal it absolutely never tells me nearby spots so I have to walk over and look at the number to park. And it charges a $.60 convenience fee! Whose convenience is it? Especially when it doesn’t even tell me the nearby parking lot number and the sign is tiny and far away. And now I also see there’s a $.20 SMS fee. What is that for? Do better pay by phone!

Completely broken in San Francisco, no locations recognized anywhere. What’s the point of this anymore?

I’m literally standing here at the meter and it won’t let me punch in the number of the meter to pay on my phone. Even though it shows the meter available as one of the current meters, when I tap on that meter number, it says it’s unavailable. Seriously, what is the point of this app. I just spent the last 30 minutes of my life trying to figure this out. It’s so unreliable

Why do I need to log in EVERY TIME I open the app?
