DELETE THIS IMMEDIATELY

This is the worst app I’ve ever come across. It’s so terrible it forced me to write my first ever review. How do you make an app that only allows you to access doors on ONE device? Half the time it doesn’t work and it’s so inconvenient. If you want to switch devices because again, only ONE device is allowed at a time, it blocks you because you’ve been resetting “too much”. I don’t know how it’s possible to create an app with 1.7 stars, but you guys managed to do it. To the developers: please consider deleting this app immediately. It doesn’t even deserve to be on the App Store.

Continues to disappoint

I have this for neighborhood gate access. It continues to fail to connect to the keypad, and frequently discontinues my credentials. It’s been a huge waste of time talking with access managers, installing and reinstalling.

Terrible

This app doesn’t work, you never get your email codes when you try to request them. Terrible system to use for your gym.

horrible

genuinely a horrible app. so many issues. logged me out and LOCKED me out of the app multiple times causing me to be locked out of my building on multiple occasions which is just ridiculous.

He’s just missing two things I would love to see

Can you make an Apple Watch version and maybe a widget?

No excuse for poor functionality

I shouldn’t open this app and be told I have no access to any doors when I very much do. I am constantly having to close and relaunch the app in hopes that it will finally let me unlock the door. Distance matters none, I can be standing right by it. There has got to be a better system but unfortunately I’m forced to use this.

Not updated

The app is vulnerable to communication failures with key and security systems when they connect to lose power and turn back on. They do not regain connection. Perhaps the app needs an update? Still trying to understand what happened. It was working so well, until it wasn’t: “Device offline. Try again later.” Just wished it was reliable.

Could be better

I use this app because it’s required by my apartment complex, but it really needs some functionality improvements for safety reasons. Right now, when I pull up to the gate, I have to take out my phone, find the app, wait for it to load, then tap the correct garage door to open. That’s a lot of fumbling while sitting at a gate, sometimes with cars behind me.

3 stars because the app itself is fairly reliable, though it occasionally shows a door as unlocked when it’s actually still locked, which can be a little confusing.

It would be much safer and more convenient if the app supported CarPlay, so I could open it right from the screen without touching my phone. Adding an iPhone widget or Shortcuts support would also help — either would let me open the gate with one tap instead of digging through the app each time.

Issue Resolved

Great customer support, I was honestly having issues with my app but they responded immediately and quickly worked with me until the issue was resolved. I’m actually very impressed with how proactive they were. If you experience issues reach out to customer support and they’ll get you taken care of

Too Many Steps Just to Unlock a Door

The PDK Access app is frustrating to use for daily access control. One of the biggest missing features is support for home screen widgets or quick-access controls. Having to unlock your phone, open the app, wait for it to load, and then unlock a door is inconvenient, especially when you’re using it multiple times a day.
Modern access control apps should offer widgets, lock screen shortcuts, Apple Watch support, or other quick-access options for faster entry. The current experience feels outdated compared to other smart access solutions.
Honestly, I don’t understand why my apartment chose this system. Residents use it every day, yet it lacks basic convenience features that would make access faster and easier. I would not recommend this app, and I hope property managers consider better alternatives until these usability issues are addressed.
The app works, but the overall experience is disappointing and far less user-friendly than it should be.

No key life

I might forget my wallet or keys, but I never forget my phone. This makes my phone the perfect device to unlock doors.

Sometimes readers are a bit high on the wall and it makes it hard to scan with my phone in my pocket. It would be nice to have a setting higher than “High”.

Zero stars

Are these guys seriously in business? Flimsy instructions for a family of 4.

I didn’t think it was possible to be worse than Linear

For an app that is CENTERED around credential management, they do not communicate a single thing about your credentials. If you activate a new device, does it remove your previous device? Up to you and your crystal ball to figure out. How many device transfers do you have left? The UI will conveniently let you know AFTER you have exceeded them and are locked out of your building. Want to contact support? Just click on the “contact support” button that will lead you to a screen that tells you to… contact support?!?

It is HARD to make an App that is so bad that it has two stars in the AppStore, but the folks over at PDK have dug deep and managed to do it!

Works great

Had prior issues but the IT team works great and resolved all issues

Response from developer

Email codes are only sent to addresses added by your property management or security team. If you’re not receiving one, check with them to confirm your email on file. If the issue continues, contact us at stars@prodatakey.com with your property details—we’ll coordinate with them to get you set up.

Completely Useless

Cannot get past the initial email code verification. The email is never sent.

App connectivity

As I write this review, I am currently stuck on the first floor of my apartment because the app is offline.

Barely works

Deleted my account quickly after I got access, I’ve tried to register again for months and it says a code was sent but no email ever arrives. With multiple emails tried on different days

Needs watch app

This app works goods but needs a watch for 5 stars.

Response from developer

Thanks. We understand the desire for a watch app. This is on our roadmap.

Fix freezing bugs

New app is clumsy and have to kill and restart many times during trouble shooting service calls

Response from developer

Metwelvevolts, you sound like an installation partner. Your experience doesn't sound normal. Please reach out to PDK Technical Support. As an installer, we can help you one-on-one.

Glitchy

Old app was far superior. This new app has new “fixes” that create more issues than they fix. Call support and they direct you to the non-responsive installer who knows less than you about the app. One day certain features work, the next day they do not. Just a common cycle.

Response from developer

Trevon, we'd love a chance to learn more. Since PDK is a solution that partners install for their customers, we often are unable to help directly unless you are an installer. For this one, please reach out to our product team at stars@prodatakey.com, so we can find out how the new app is falling short.
