the website is slow and buggy and it keeps listing unavailable pets as available. my heart was broken twice in a row after being unable to adopt the 2 cats of my dreams and now i don’t even wanna get one anymore. i have been crying the entire morning.
The app doesn’t work. Keep trying to do the pet owner profile to match with recommended breeds but nothing works. Hope they fix it soon as it’s not useable in the current format.
Just in order to sign in or sign up or even use the app you have to give up your rights to the information that they will sell. Another way of giving up your rights.
My fav I probaly Lila
This is the worst app I have ever used. Maybe decrease the amount of add junk and your app would work like it is supposed to. Sad too because this is a needed resource for animals who need homes. Do better.
Always has a problem with my network connection even when my network connection is fine. When I try to filter for house trained dogs, it shows me dog’s that AREN’T house trained alongside those that are. When I send links to other people in my family, the link takes them to the website and the website has MORE information than the app even though we’re looking at the same exact pet profile. If I have to download the app to use PetFinder and have favorites, it should make the search for a pet easier and I should have access to the same information, if not more information, than what’s on the website. Also, even when I modify my search I just keep seeing the same dogs over and over again (some with more than one listing for the same pet). There should be some sort of vetting system from the app itself to make sure that there are no repeat pet profiles because it is really irritating to have X amount of results come up for my search and have like 5 results one after another be the same dog. There’s not really a comparable app to PetFinder so I’m going to keep using it, but it could really use some improvements.

very good place to find cute animals
There are scammers on here with fake pics and require deposits before you even get to see the pet in person. I wonder how much money was scammed from people on here
Lots of bugs to fix, regularly unable to see available pets. Browser version is still much better. Cannot see favorite pets. Very disappointed. Update: this app has not been fixed. VERY unimpressed. Animals need homes and this app is not able to be used.
Thank you Petfinder for helping us find and adopt our two new cats! What a wonderful resource!
This app is so glitchy, works 50% of the time MAYBE, and made me nearly give up my rescue dog search because it was so bad. Get up and grab your computer if you want to use this service, it’s not worth the frustration to download this app.
Will be happy to take this review down when this is rectified. Pet finder should be a great resource but with many pictures three months, four months even over a year old?
this app is just fun too be on,i get to see cute ahh kittens and some have funny names ?! 6/5 stars
I have tried to update my info and either it looks it took but search results are across the country . OR it apologizes that it cannot save. A waste of time!!!!
Everytime I find a dog - even after updating my location many times, it is over 500 miles away from me. It also logs me out every use.
We are looking for a dog to adopt. The concept of this app is great in fact we found our last dog on the site 13 years ago. However, there are so many glitches. We have spent time creating favorite list only to find that the dogs we removed back on the list, there's no way to filter your favorites, shows dogs from hundreds of miles away even though we selected 100 mi radius in search criteria and too many more glitches to list. I wish the developers would fix it because probably a lot of dogs aren't getting adopted because of the glitches. It does not seem like someone has put in the effort to really make this app work. These worthy dogs deserve better, please fix the app.

Great app but it lags a lot
Best dating app for pet and owners.
I had the Petfinder app a few years ago and decided to try again when looking for another furry member of our family. Everyone is so adamant about “adopt don’t shop”-which is what I was trying to do. But much like a couple years ago, shelters do not contact you when sending an inquiry. I found a pup I liked back then, sent the adoption form-nothing. I saw the exact same puppy, no updated photos, still listed to this day. I decided as a test to email about him again. Still no answer. They really must not want these animals to find a home. I own my house, have a huge yard surrounded by a 6ft privacy fence, am an experienced dog owner who vets, neuters and takes care of her animals so it’s not issue of responsibility. I ended finding my pup on Craigslist. So sure give it a shot, the pets deserve it. Good luck though finding a shelter that actually wants these animals to have a good life because they seem to discourage rather than promote.
