Double booking Issue and asked to the cancellation fee
While trying to book a cab, the app kept showing the “searching for driver” screen without any confirmation. Since it looked stuck, I retried the booking. During that time, one driver called me, so I assumed the booking was confirmed only once. Then the second booking confirmation screen appeared.
But without any proper indication or warning, the first search had also created another booking. As a result, two drivers arrived for the same trip.
When I contacted Red Taxi support, they told me that I should have validated the rides properly if double bookings were created. Honestly, as a customer, when I’m in a hurry getting ready, packing things, and managing travel, how am I supposed to continuously monitor and verify whether the app silently created multiple bookings?
Also, only one driver called me during the booking process. The second driver only contacted me after reaching the pickup location. So naturally, I believed there was only one confirmed ride.
When I requested cancellation for one ride, I was still asked to pay the cancellation fee. I paid it because I didn’t want the drivers to lose income or face issues from Red Taxi for something that was clearly caused by the app’s poor UX and booking flow.
This issue is completely due to bad app design and lack of clear booking status communication. Red Taxi seriously needs to improve the booking experience and prevent duplicate bookings during retries or delayed confirmations.

Some area for improvements for the app:
1. OTP can be shown in live activities like namma yathri, always a hassle to open the app and find the OTP.
2. Option to turn off unwanted notifications. Don't like the junk notifications thats sent to my phone often.

Reliable and Convenient
I did have a couple of unpleasant encounters with drivers who were rude and seemed rushed. Those were disappointing, but they were exceptions rather than the norm. I’d like to see better driver training and follow up when complaints are filed.
All in all, a reliable taxi app with room for improvement - happy to give 4 stars.
