I’ve been using Ring for some time and, overall, I like the concept and the convenience the doorbell and app provide. However, there are a few areas where I think the experience could be improved.
One of my biggest frustrations is the lack of customisable notification sounds. When you’re out and other people nearby also have Ring doorbells, hearing the same notification sound can make you think it’s your own doorbell ringing. Being able to choose a different ringtone or notification sound would be a simple but really useful addition.
I’ve also experienced ongoing connection and signal issues between the doorbell and my router. There’s nothing obvious blocking the signal, and I’ve already replaced the doorbell, but the issue has continued. I’ve recently added a signal booster close to the doorbell as well, yet the app still reports that the signal is weak. It would be helpful if Ring could provide better information about why the connection is struggling and what can actually be done to resolve it.
I’m also a little disappointed that some of the newer features, such as Familiar Faces and Video Descriptions, require an upgrade. I understand that Ring needs to offer subscription services, but it would be nice if more new features were included for existing customers, especially those who have already invested in the Ring hardware.
I still think Ring has a good product and there are plenty of things I like about it. I just feel that better notification customisation, more reliable connectivity and a more generous approach to new features would make the overall experience considerably better.
Hopefully these are areas Ring will consider improving in future updates.

Amazon/Ring, why was ‘Search for Lost Pets’ enabled? I turned it off now, but I do NOT agree to Ring accessing my data without my permission.
