Okay I have called these guys many times and left emails. The first was 6 months ago during a funeral because they double charged me and I wanted to be done with them since my car was going to sit for a while. As of yesterday I got insurance to get my car back on the road. Just to be charged again today from something that was said done almost a half a year ago. Don’t trust these guys.

Don’t Do It
Very high rates if you’re a good driver. Also horrible customer service. Tried to keep me from canceling and still attempted to charge me. My new insurance company which ended up being $62 less a month actually said they’d call to cancel. It’s that bad don’t attempt business with this company unless you’re in dire needs.

Bait and switch
Looked for a better rate and switched to Root. We had a good rate and after first bill it went up by nearly 45 a month. Deceptive
Scam
I've downloaded the app to login but it always leads to a find a quote screen. I already have insurance with tooth why cant I go view my policy through the app or on the website. I even have tried to contact customer service and no help. I knew I shouldn't have trusted it.
Predatory Insurance Company
This is by far the worst insurance company out there, your driving can be perfect and your premium will go up 500 the first month and another 400 the next month with no reason, credit score goes up, no claims or tickets. 2,820 when progressive insured me at 1400 with even more coverage. Roots Customer service doesn’t care and will give no explaining on the gouging. Do not insure with Root!!

Be very careful with this company
This company is a ripoff - charged me @ approx 6/day and at cancelation the rate jumped to approx 14/day to eat up my money, refunded balance @ 2/day!!!
Skip this Service
They charge way too much without offering any services that are worth the cost. You will be better off going with a different provider. I was a loyal customer for years with this company and it is utterly disappointing that they would be so money hungry. The app itself crashes a lot too. Truly, this company has been a waste of time, money, and effort. If I could rate less than 1 star, I would.

Needs rework
I tried signing into to check out my policies and at first it said it would send a link to my email which it never did u redid this process 4-5 times before deleting the app and redownloading. When i go back to sign in, it lets me but than starts searching for quto quotes which i dont want to do and you cant leave to undo the process only way is to close they app and if you do get quotes the only options given is “continue” and you are stuck on this page until you input all your information for another insurance company. Only way to get out is by deleting the app again. And if you try to go online to sign in it redirects you to the app and if you do sign in online it does the exact same thing and starts searching for auto quotes instead of going to your profile. I just want to look at my policies now thankfully they were emailed to me when i joined root but you cant sign in after.

Must buy policy to do the driving test!
Shopping and price comparison although given lip-service, is prevented by requiring purchase of a Root policy before doing the road test. It would appear there is hope you will cancel your existing insurance and purchase a Root policy before you do your road test thus encouraging you to accept whatever they offer after the test has been completed. The other alternative, of course is to pay for your Present policy as well as a Root policy in order find out what they will charge once they have seen your driving record. This makes me feel that they don’t believe their quote will be desirable if you aren’t locked in because you have canceled your existing coverage. If you could do the road test without buying double insurance, this is an attractive product that I would have liked to try while my existing coverage was in place.

Do not get this Insurance
I would never recommend Root Insurance to anyone. My experience has been extremely frustrating. My policy has increased multiple times, and now my renewal has jumped from under $300 to over $400 without what I believe is a reasonable explanation.
The company claims to base pricing on driving habits, but I drive two different vehicles, and one is used primarily for work. I don't believe their driving data accurately reflects my actual driving, yet they continue using it to justify significant premium increases.
To make matters worse, the renewal includes additional policy and legal language without clearly explaining what has changed or why my premium has increased so dramatically. It feels like the rules keep changing while customers are left trying to figure out why they're paying so much more.
I expected fair pricing and transparency, but instead I experienced repeated rate increases with little clarity. My experience has left me feeling misled and disappointed. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Policy went up
So my policy with Root insurance went up after renewing my policy it jumped up $50, so this will be my last month with this insurance company. I am going to cancel my policy.
Apple Wallet?
The app works well however showing the insurance card to someone (like during an inspection) can take some time to pull up bc of email and sms verification. Please consider adding the feature to let customers add their insurance card to Apple Wallet. Thanks!
horrible insurance
I bought root for my first car insurance never having insurance or license yet they added a driving test feature scored fine on it even tho i wasn’t driving it recorded me in different cars after taking 148$ out they canceled my insurance the driving score was at 7/10 i called and said it’s only been a week of having insurance i haven’t got my license yet or the car registered and ive only had insurance for a week could i get a refund they took the 148$ and i didn’t have insurance for even a week let alone even drive yet , horrible experience for a new driver worst insurance on the market

Location not working
I can’t get the location services to work at all. Switched from Samsung which has never given me issues with managing my settings the way I want, especially with what services I allow it to access, but day 1 that I switch back to Apple after years my insurance is probably going to go up! I can’t for the life of me figure out how to fix it because the app never prompted me to allow location, it was automatically denied and there’s no way for me to add it. From my understanding, the app itself must prompt you in order to enable it and that simply isn’t happening.

Payment loading
I been trying to start my insurance with them and I had been stuck on the loading payment screen I try many phones and computers and talk to my bank. It still don’t work it just keep loading we try contacting support all they say is keep trying the app no help at all.

Terrible app
The app will not let me log on because it says it’s out of date, I clicked the link to update it and it shows no updates available or. I’m stuck with a useless app
