Auto Insurance
When I filed a claim for vehicle damage, Root denied it claiming the vehicle wasn't reported within 30 days of purchase. This makes no sense: if the vehicle wasn't covered, why did they charge me and issue a card stating otherwise? I paid for insurance I was told I had, only to find out when it mattered that it apparently didn't exist. Be very careful trusting anything Root tells you about your coverage status get everything in writing and don't assume a paid premium or an insurance card means you're actually covered."

Not happy
Purchased policy 8/31/26 but when logging into app it says driver not authorized on policy. Sent email requesting status as my credit card has been charged. Would like to cancel policy if active and receive refund
Stay away
Completely scam , they not only raised my payments after the agreement they included “fees” that made the monthly payment even higher, on top of all that they took money out of my account when I cancelled. Be careful and stay away.
Terrible Customer Service
Root is an all digital company, they don’t have location branches or anybody you can speak to in person so when you have an issue you have to go to war with non-English speaking people until you finally get someone you can understand only for them to tell you they can’t help you with issues on your policy. I was charged almost $300 for “a payment on a policy that was cancelled almost 7 years ago.” I hate this company so much their customer service is the worst in the industry.

Stupid
When I created my account and added my vehicle then got a quote it made me have ti invite myself to the app leading to it saying there’s already an account active when it made me send a invite link to myself as an extra driver. In summary this app is dumb as hell

Do NOT download this app! This entire thing is just a massive spam trap designed to harvest your location data and waste your time.
The app forced me to track my driving habits for weeks—every single commute, errand, and road trip, constantly draining my phone battery and tracking my every move under the promise of a custom quote. I patiently completed their ridiculously long testing period, following every rule.
And what happens the exact second the tracking period finally finishes? A sudden, generic "Technical Error" message pops up on the screen! No quote, no explanation, nothing. Just an abrupt crash that erases weeks of driving data and tells me to start all over again.
This is clearly a bait-and-switch scam to get continuous background tracking permissions. Avoid Root at all costs!

Lady open door while I was passing by damage on my side fender and my side mirror
I did a claim and didn’t get a response back it’s been 4 months and they just keep on raising my insurance payment
Deductible sham
Sky high monthly premiums for full coverage and then you have to pay out of pocket when the claim service is less than the deductible???? Car insurance in general is nothing but a scam!

Okay I have called these guys many times and left emails. The first was 6 months ago during a funeral because they double charged me and I wanted to be done with them since my car was going to sit for a while. As of yesterday I got insurance to get my car back on the road. Just to be charged again today from something that was said done almost a half a year ago. Don’t trust these guys.

Don’t Do It
Very high rates if you’re a good driver. Also horrible customer service. Tried to keep me from canceling and still attempted to charge me. My new insurance company which ended up being $62 less a month actually said they’d call to cancel. It’s that bad don’t attempt business with this company unless you’re in dire needs.

Looked for a better rate and switched to Root. We had a good rate and after first bill it went up by nearly 45 a month. Deceptive
Scam
I've downloaded the app to login but it always leads to a find a quote screen. I already have insurance with tooth why cant I go view my policy through the app or on the website. I even have tried to contact customer service and no help. I knew I shouldn't have trusted it.
Predatory Insurance Company
This is by far the worst insurance company out there, your driving can be perfect and your premium will go up 500 the first month and another 400 the next month with no reason, credit score goes up, no claims or tickets. 2,820 when progressive insured me at 1400 with even more coverage. Roots Customer service doesn’t care and will give no explaining on the gouging. Do not insure with Root!!

Be very careful with this company
This company is a ripoff - charged me @ approx 6/day and at cancelation the rate jumped to approx 14/day to eat up my money, refunded balance @ 2/day!!!
Skip this Service
They charge way too much without offering any services that are worth the cost. You will be better off going with a different provider. I was a loyal customer for years with this company and it is utterly disappointing that they would be so money hungry. The app itself crashes a lot too. Truly, this company has been a waste of time, money, and effort. If I could rate less than 1 star, I would.

Needs rework
I tried signing into to check out my policies and at first it said it would send a link to my email which it never did u redid this process 4-5 times before deleting the app and redownloading. When i go back to sign in, it lets me but than starts searching for quto quotes which i dont want to do and you cant leave to undo the process only way is to close they app and if you do get quotes the only options given is “continue” and you are stuck on this page until you input all your information for another insurance company. Only way to get out is by deleting the app again. And if you try to go online to sign in it redirects you to the app and if you do sign in online it does the exact same thing and starts searching for auto quotes instead of going to your profile. I just want to look at my policies now thankfully they were emailed to me when i joined root but you cant sign in after.
