25% FEE? 4 INATTENTIVE services? GIVE MY FEES BACK! HAVE 2 RESOLVE MY OWN APP ISSUES. PAY U 4 WUT
Chat thread “Sorting” feature for conversations is BROKEN. I selected “recently viewed”…… organized with random convo first in the last 6 weeks. GIVE ME MY FEES BACK FOR THIS GARBAGE
Rovers’ horror stories from owners, FAR OUTWEIGH the algorithm when it comes to positive experiences 😂clearly shown by local FB mktpl ALONE. Get a grip Rover! Change your fees you watch your turnover crumble 😁
08/10/26 - Would love it if the $105CAD OF ROVER FEES FOR A ONE WEEK SIT COULD BE REALLOCATED TO DEVELOPERS TO FIX THE APP?!
Also, be prepared for Rover’s weird tracking system and random “warning” (borderline threatening, IN MY OPINION) emails when THE ROVER OVERLORDS “suspect” suspicious activity. No grounds, just suspicion ALLEGEDLY 🙃
App filters do not work
Also, there is no way to delete requests of sitters who did not approve my requests. The results just sit in the home page, so it's not very easy to immediately see the ones that have responded or are pending (the ones I prefer to see immediately).
The app still needs some fine tuning.
Good app
Scam
Stole my money - they said they would fix it and they still have it
Lost a Customer
Update: Rover responded to this review by saying they understand I was disappointed with the “outcome.” That still misses the point. My complaint also concerns Rover’s own customer service. I called their Trust & Safety line, was refused access to a supervisor, received no meaningful assistance, and the representative hung up on me. I was not simply unhappy with a decision—I was unhappy with how Rover handled me as a customer when I tried to report a serious concern.
I chose not to use Rover because of both an extremely rude and unprofessional interaction with a sitter and, more importantly, Rover’s inadequate response when I reported the experience.
I understand that Rover cannot personally control the behavior of every sitter using its platform. What Rover CAN control is how it responds when a customer reports inappropriate or unprofessional conduct. That is where they lost me as a customer.
I reached out expecting my concerns to be taken seriously and handled professionally. Instead, I was left dissatisfied with the response and with very little confidence that Rover would adequately address a problem if something happened while my dogs were actually in someone’s care.
When you are trusting someone with your pets, customer service isn’t a minor detail. It is part of the trust you are placing in the company and its platform.
Ultimately, Rover’s handling of this situation made my decision for me. I chose to board my dogs at a professional kennel instead, where I felt more comfortable with the accountability, communication, and customer service.
Rover didn’t lose my business simply because I encountered one rude sitter. They lost my business because of how they responded when I brought that sitter’s behavior to their attention.
Be very very careful
Awful customer service
Here is an actual message they sent me pretending to be human: ‘Ma'am, there is nothing further I can do regarding this matter. As previously explained, the owner's account does not exist anymore. We are not allowed to disclose any further details, and the account has been deactivated. Let's not beat around the bush; the client you are looking for is no longer on our platform.’
😭
It’s just ok
App needs improvements
Good app
Disrespectful to sitters
You charge a 20% commission, yet sitters pay for our own gas, supplies, taxes, vehicle expenses, and even our own background checks. Meanwhile, owners aren’t required to undergo a background check, even though we’re entering their homes alone.
What’s even more frustrating is that Rover completely ignores the settings I choose. I set my service radius to 5 miles, but I keep receiving requests from clients 10 miles away for twice-daily visits. That’s up to 40 miles of driving every day for one hour of work, all at my own expense. If I decline these requests because they don’t make financial sense, my acceptance rate drops and I become invisible to pet parents.
The same thing happens with my availability. I block off dates because I have school, family commitments, or other bookings, yet Rover still lets people request those dates. Declining those requests also hurts my acceptance rate and I stop getting any bookings for months.
Why ask sitters to set an availability calendar and service radius if the platform ignores them? It feels disrespectful to the people providing the care while paying Rover 20% of every booking.
