Perfect for Training

I’ve been athletic all my life. Sports in high school, active afterwards, etc. My whole life I’ve always ran and trained in terms of distance. Run a lap, recover a lap. Run a mile, recover. I would be so focused on the end that I’d burn out and not give up once I get there. This app allows you to train based on effort. It doesn’t matter if you’re a world class runner or just starting. It’s run at a pace based on an effort out of 10 for a set period of time. This way I push myself in a consistent way and am competing against myself. And the intervals are well devised tho I do think the app is more for ppl looking to train, not just go for a leisurely jog.

Time setting did not match the workout

I love the Down Dog apps and I have not used the Running app in awhile, but the 40 minute setting was giving workout segments that were not accurate. For example: “we’re going to do 5 minute intervals” but then it would be 1 or 2 minutes. Seems like a glitch in the program settings.

Fun app, but marred by technical glitches

The music and coaching make this sound, and feel like a peloton app. Unfortunately, the prompts that the app gives are often out of sequence. This is especially true if you keep the workout to less than 30 minutes. For example, it will tell you that you have to run hard for a full minute and then bring you back to a jog after only 30 seconds. Also, the instructor will say that you are going to move from a hard run to a fast jog, but then the app forgets about the fast jog.

Great addition to the down dog line up

challenging on beginner which I love since I want to push myself to be one of those people that “goes on runs” it makes me feel like I have a lot of exciting things to build up to as I get stronger and faster!

Best group of apps

Constantly changing each workout. Very reasonable price. Use it everyday

Great But Bring Back Treadmill + HIIT

Awesome app, pushes me on runs where I normally wouldn’t push myself.

However, the one workout I loved initially (treadmill run + HIIT) is no longer an option. Please bring this back!

Less than satisfied

I adore the DownDog Yoga apps, so I was truly disappointed when this app didn’t work for my jogging journey.
It is super glitchy when not connected to WiFi, making outdoor runs way less productive, and the music selections are frankly terrible. I do not enjoy the embedded poppy/hiphop style musics, so I tried to use my own playlists, and it made it impossible to hear the trainer because there was no adaptation in volume for either the trainer or the music.
I have a different app that I pay for for jogging training that I was hoping to get rid of for budget purposes, but because this one didn’t work for me due to the above listed reasons, I have to stick with the other app. I was very disappointed with the lack of usage and the incompatibility with my own music choices.
I love the other apps this company offers, and I have a full access subscription, but with the jogging workouts not fully downloading to the phone and running off of data in-the-moment, it just does t work for me.
If you treadmill run, it’s a decent option, but I was just underwhelmed with the entire experience of this particular app.

Brings a new interesting aspect to my run!

Great music and it actually made the run go faster waiting to see what was next. Love it.

Need Apple Watch version

I usually don’t run with my bulky phone so I was disappointed to discover this app is not compartible with the Apple Watch. It’s not usable.

Really nice for getting into running

I got the yoga app which came with all of these so I figured I’d try it. I really love how the intervals break up a run to make it really challenging without being boring or too difficult. Best gym membership I’ve ever bought!

Pushed me to new heights!

This app pushed me to do a run I didn’t even think I was capable of! I’m so excited to try some more workouts and keep progressing. The cues and music are perfect to motivate you without being too much. Can’t recommend enough!

Not beginner friendly

I’ve going on 2 years of being an avid walker and I’m looking to up level my walks and tried this run/jog. It’s not appreciated to tell beginners they should hit 8ph. I think I’ll stick with Apples workouts where they truly talk about your exertion levels instead of arbitrary maxes. My jog is not at 6mph by any means. I don’t feel included in this app.

Running just got a lot more interesting

Every few months, fad workout routines pop up here and there. But the best advice I ever received about fitness is that everyone’s body works differently. And what works for other people won’t necessarily work for you. And in all my years of experimenting, I’ve found that I get the best fitness results with running and HIIT workout routines.
But the thing with running is that it can get boring sometimes. But this app just changed that for me. I’m excited to run again.

Beginner level??

I am a loyal Down Dog customer. I’ve been using the Yoga app almost every day for about five years, and when the hiit app came out I started using that almost every day as well. So with that, I work out for about an hour every day and I’m in good shape. I’ve never been a runner but I’ve always wanted to be, so when down dog came out with a Running app I was so excited. However, this is definitely not built for people who are not runners. At the end of a run at the beginner level, you should be able to think to yourself “OK that was a bit challenging, but I’m excited to try it again”. However, so far with my experience with this app, that has not been the case. At the beginner level, there are almost no breaks in between intervals and multiple sprints. For someone who has no endurance with running because I’ve never been a runner, this is extremely discouraging and makes me dread trying the app more and more each time. I feel more defeated than encouraged after each run. I would suggest to lower the sprints and increase the breaks between for the beginner level. And again as I stated before, I am already in decent shape and can work out for up to an hour every day, so I can’t even imagine how hard this run would be for someone who doesn’t normally work out and is trying this app out for the first time.

On top of my issues with the difficulty level for beginners, this app is also very glitchy. I will be on a recovery jog, then suddenly hear the music pick up and my screen is red indicating that I should be sprinting without any transition or countdown between. The app will also tell me that I have only a minute left in an interval, and then a couple seconds later tell me that we have 90 more seconds left and it’s just very inconsistent.

I’m sure that this app is great for people that are actually runners, but if you are new to Running I do not recommend it.

Love this running app!

Like the yoga version, I love this running app! It makes it SO easy to jump into a workout. No endless scrolling or filtering, I can literally be working out in seconds. I love that I can do a quick 10 minutes during the middle of the day or an hour during my usual workout time in the evening. I do have two suggestions that could make this even better: 1. have the background color change when there is a change in incline or speed, and 2. Add options to customize how long the warm-up and cool-down are.

I hate running

This is by far the best running app I have tried. I use the down dog yoga app nearly everyday and love it, I had to try their running app since I hate running. There were clear results. I run every other day, each time increasing the speed. There is no doubt this app works.

A few recommendations:
I wish I could upload my own playlist. While the music is upbeat and definitely works, it’s not for everyone.
It would be nice to have a mile and speed tracker. Even a setting for how far you’d like to run would be nice.
It’s often unclear when I’m supposed to speed back up and I get confused about the varying time increments.

No offline option for outdoor running

Cannot use for trail running in mountains as there is no offline option.

Music has to go

The music options on the running ap are AWFUL! Either R&B auto tune crap or hip hop. How about an option for the rest of us other than silence?

Not compatible with watch

Love this app…but really bummed it doesn’t work on Apple Watch.
