It reacts SO badly with screen time that you have to use up the one extra minute, THEN put in the passcode or send a request. You can’t just do the latter immediately. And my band rehearsals are at 7, so it was pretty much out by then. It also logs you out constantly and, this is mostly a grievance with management, but my preferred name is in quotes with my deadname still there 😭😭.
There are also MULTIPLE typos in some songs. For example, my band was assigned David by Courtney Barnett as one of our songs, but the riffs are so overly complicated for a band of kids, and has many mistakes that aren’t addressed. You can also barely hear the lead guitar part in the track. The tab for Do You Realize?? by the Flaming Lips also tries to bend music theory and even forgot to write the chords in the second half of the intro. Dog Days Are Over by Florence + The Machine is really only G, Am, and Em, but the app puts in MULTIPLE others at the end that make no sense and also makes you start in the middle of the song for some reason.
Now, I love Green Day, but maybe put a clean version of the lyrics to American Idiot so kids aren’t saying a slur 😭😭?? Just a thought…
Lessons have been HEAVILY altered by the app. Individual lessons with band program kids are shortened to 30mins to give “more time with the band”, as if learning the songs isn’t just as if not more important (the non-band kids still get 45mins…). Also, we don’t really write anything down anymore, so I’m really having issues memorizing songs that literally have more than 3 chords. If that’s not a problem then I don’t know what is.
In conclusion, the UI is broken, the tabs can be wrong and you won’t know unless you’re well versed in music theory, there are slurs in songs on an app meant for kids as young as 5, and it ruined the in-person lessons. This would be a great tool if OPTIONAL and implemented into lessons here and there, not EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.
