Glitching

I’m trying to log in and the two step verification process is not letting me enter the code from email. It’s also not allowing me to receive the code through sms.

App never loads

I love this program and it was really helped with my credit score. However, for months now, whenever I try to use the app, it sits and spins and never loads for me to manage my account when logged in. I have plenty of storage and always keep my phone and app updated. I work in App development and know how to troubleshoot, but no matter what I always have to end up going through the web portal. Pretty disappointing.

Bad experience

My payout had been on hold for weeks. This is my 3rd self builder account. This time I had a very frustrating experience with Self’s verification process. I was asked to provide documentation for payments made from my account ending in 0708, which is my PayPal account through The Bancorp Bank.

The problem is that PayPal does not provide bank statements showing the account number and mailing address the way a traditional bank does. I explained this and provided the available documentation, including my PayPal transaction history showing the exact payments made to Self, but it still felt like my legitimate payments were being treated as suspicious.

I have never attempted to commit fraud. I simply use both my Navy Federal account and my PayPal account to manage my finances, which is common for many people. Instead of working with me to verify the information that was available, the process felt rigid and accusatory.

I understand that financial institutions need to prevent fraud, but there should also be a reasonable understanding of how digital payment platforms like PayPal work. Customers shouldn’t be left feeling like they’re being treated as dishonest simply because a third-party platform doesn’t generate documents in the format Self prefers.

I hope Self improves its verification process and trains its support team to recognize legitimate payment methods such as PayPal, so other customers don’t have the same experience.

Can’t start A builder account

I been trying to start a builder account. I keep getting a message saying something went wrong can’t open an account. I have talked with multiple support agents. Nothing seems to work. Any help?

Credit builder loan

When you create a credit builder loan, they do not notify you about how long it will take for it to get back to you. It says 5 to 7 business days, which is a lie because they would make you send documents when they already have your information and even though it is your money. They still take their time giving your money back to you and when you do send the documents it will make you wait two business days and tell you it will take six business days to get to your account which is ridiculous cause how do you have my information and yet still asking for information

CHASE CONNECTION DROPS

Their Chase Bank connection drops off all the time and I simply gave up reconnecting. Today it is not even reconnecting, defeating the purpose for myself for using the app because I am only here to report my rent and bill payments.

Great starter card

The Self Card offers me a lot flexibility and easy access when it comes to managing my finances!

SELF Review

This program is not bad for those struggling to get a credit card. It’s just difficult to come up with the full monthly payment especially when that payment is typically 3 times a normal monthly credit card payment.

Credit builder

Excellent app and credit card to use it’s amazing how my score went up

Good experience

Basically pay up to “build your credit”

I put in $35 a month thinking it would build my credit and I’d get all the money back at the end. They ended up taking $124 out of $840 for interest that I was not aware of. It barely builds your credit too. Just get a credit card, don’t use this app.

Not what I thought

I’m upset created this thinking it was going to help my credit I was at 650 and when the credit report got this one dropped my credit 45 points because it said that opening a no limit credit acct hurts your credit go figure!! I wish I would have never messed with it my credit was going up without it on my own never had a hit like that

BIGGEST SCAM EVER!!!!

This card is a complete joke. It has hurt my credit more than any improvement at all. They randomly closed my account after sending 1 account verification email masked by 16 spam emails about increasing my accounts limit with a deposit. I’ve had the card for 6+ yrs with no improvement to my credit with smart financial responsibility. Keeping my balance below 30% usage. Ultimately, have collected interest payment and annual fees on my own money. Did not improve my credit and randomly closed my card causing a dramatic decrease in my credit History and score. It’s a Scam!!!! Go with a reputable secured card service. What a joke!!!

Caused more stress, not less

This app has caused me more stress than I think it has aided me financially. The app never is able to report my rent regularly because I use a split fee system and it says it disconnects from Chase account each month. They send you these shaming emails that your rent won’t be reported to boost your credit and when to click the email to log into the app, it doesn’t even direct you to the area where you’d have to get the account reconnected. I have had to manually reconnect my account EVERY month and find the rent payment. Nothing about this automated and it makes it more stressful. They also remind you can report all your previous utility bills if you pay $50. So just another app exploiting people who are working to improve their finances. So gross. I can’t wait to be done with them one my loan builder is finished.
