Glitching
I’m trying to log in and the two step verification process is not letting me enter the code from email. It’s also not allowing me to receive the code through sms.
App never loads
I love this program and it was really helped with my credit score. However, for months now, whenever I try to use the app, it sits and spins and never loads for me to manage my account when logged in. I have plenty of storage and always keep my phone and app updated. I work in App development and know how to troubleshoot, but no matter what I always have to end up going through the web portal. Pretty disappointing.

Bad experience
My payout had been on hold for weeks. This is my 3rd self builder account. This time I had a very frustrating experience with Self’s verification process. I was asked to provide documentation for payments made from my account ending in 0708, which is my PayPal account through The Bancorp Bank.
The problem is that PayPal does not provide bank statements showing the account number and mailing address the way a traditional bank does. I explained this and provided the available documentation, including my PayPal transaction history showing the exact payments made to Self, but it still felt like my legitimate payments were being treated as suspicious.
I have never attempted to commit fraud. I simply use both my Navy Federal account and my PayPal account to manage my finances, which is common for many people. Instead of working with me to verify the information that was available, the process felt rigid and accusatory.
I understand that financial institutions need to prevent fraud, but there should also be a reasonable understanding of how digital payment platforms like PayPal work. Customers shouldn’t be left feeling like they’re being treated as dishonest simply because a third-party platform doesn’t generate documents in the format Self prefers.
I hope Self improves its verification process and trains its support team to recognize legitimate payment methods such as PayPal, so other customers don’t have the same experience.
