Weak Wi-Fi connection makes these hard to use

My family bought Sensi thermostats so my 90 year-old mother-in-law could control her air-conditioning from her phone. when it’s working the app is fairly intuitive and easy to use. However, walking just a few feet away from the thermostats and you get a thermostat off-line error. Despite being a small house with excellent Wi-Fi coverage, these thermostats can’t seem to maintain Home network connectivity, and therefore my mother-in-law cannot control them from her phone as intended.

Not working

Cannot get Sensi app to connect to my Wi-Fi or iPhone

Always offline

It never stays connected

Regretting Installation

I received the Sensi lite in a free promotion from Alabama Power. I had just purchased another brand to replace a malfunctioning thermostat. I returned the other brand and kept the Sensi. I have not been impressed. The thermostat is not reaching the scheduled temperature in time (as the other brand did). We had the power flicker during a storm and the Sensi lost wifi. Now I cannot get it to reconnect to wifi. Nothing on the screen of the unit, that the help article says touch, will respond. The app will not recognize my email. Mind you I had an email sent from the app to this same account yesterday. This thermostat was just installed 2 days ago, and I am longing for the other brand that I returned.

Why so tiny?

Terrible and inaccessible interface; got a Sensi thermostat for a family member who has vision problems and limited mobility - big mistake; current temperature is huge but the temperature setting is laughably tiny and does not resize when using Apple’s accessibility tools; why can’t designers make interfaces that work well for young and old alike?

Review so far

Have not had the system hooked up very long. The Bluetooth of being able to turn device off. Feels as if it is delayed. Or not working.

Exellent App

Awesome and easy to manage AC from phone

Good results at great price

We have two Sensi thermostats one Florida and one in upstate New York and it’s very convenient to be able to check on both properties when we’re not there. The Sensi is easy to install and easy to operate. We’ve been very pleased with it and the one time I needed support it was available quickly.

Dependable

Great!

Continuous disconnecting and rebooting

The app reboots itself constantly and the thermostat itself disconnects from the wifi 95% of the day. Very frustrating.

Useless

I will never ever purchase the brand again. If you’re looking for reliable remote access, choose another brand! The thermostat is always offline so you can’t control the settings from the app as advertised.

Really great Thermostat

I really like the Sensi. Provides all the requirements needed for remote temperature controls needed. An improvement would be to allow 1/2 degree increments in the Metric setting.

Convenient

Easy to view when away from home.

Not perfect

GM, Only 8 temp. Setting for a day. Prefer to have at lease 12 setting a day, the more set. can better control thermostat from 1 degree increase/dec.. tested with 2 degree compresser work harder n longer time.
Unless software update or review will still @ 1/2 star

Optimal saving event

What the hell is that. These electric companies want to control everything that happens to your account except the bill and price

4 Houses with Sensi

After installing the unit in my house on the Northside of Indianapolis, I was getting the same readings as with my carpenter grade unit but with the convenience of WiFi. I can check it when away from home which is nice for times I forgot to adjust the settings before I left the house. Wiring it up is easy, then it’s just plug-n-play and go thru the menu. One thing to note that you should do is, disconnect the 3 amp bladed fuse (purple) from the handling unit or flip your breaker that operates the thermostat to the off position, if not, the 3 amp fuse will blow and your new thermostat won’t work. Hope this helps.

Great except one annoyance

This is a really great app. One complaint is a user can not stay logged in. Requires password entry often for app launch. Quite frustrating so four stars instead of five. Lately the app is disconnecting and reloading the thermostat interface every minute.

Sensi Thermostat

I have had this thermostat for over 10 years and it has brought us peace of mind. We live 1,500 miles away from our winter home and it has performed without issues. Easy programming, worth every penny.

I REALLY REALLY HATE the app update

i’ve been using this app for over two years and used to like it! but now the updated the UI and now it’s AWFUL! and it has menus inside of menus inside of menus to change the temperature schedules! Why would you add extra steps to change temperatures? It was so easy before!!! and I can’t downgrade the app so I’m stuck with this stupid update and makes you want to buy a new thermostat. I hated that much!!!! PLEASE either change it or give the option for changing the INTERFACE! or I’m looking for a new thermostat this is ridiculous
