Snorkel Fish Hawaii for iPhone User Reviews

Better than a book

I forget my fish ID Boot on this, my fourth, trip to Maui. I now prefer the app. It’s easier to find fish, and to be confident of your identification. I especially like the ability to filter out rarer fish. Well done!

Great companion to snorkeling, one request…

Love the app! It would be extra fun to be able to use the app to save/organize my own photos.

Response from developer

Thanks for the positive review, and that’s a fun idea! Sadly, it’s not likely to happen. I have to rely on high priced developers to make changes, and the cost for a major upgrade like that would be in the many thousands of dollars.

Great snorkel primer

This is the app I was waiting for. Lots of info and clear pictures, but not overwhelming.

perfect

exactly the app i was looking for. commonality rankings super helpful for novices orienting themselves. logbook feature fun for keeping track of species seen

Wonderful app!

I love this app. It helped me identify a rare reef fish I saw in West Maui. And I love the logbook which allows me to nots which fish I’ve seen. Videos are helpful too. Highly recommended.

Super Cool!

I love this app. It’s got it all. Great job designing it. Great pictures. Good info. I love the videos. I like that you include the Local names. Please consider doing one for Caribbean fishes too.

Response from developer

Thanks for your generous review! For Florida and the Caribbean, check out my app Easy Fish ID Caribbean. It’s similar to the Hawaii apps only no videos. (Videos might be added in the future.)

Good app

Very informative

Must Have! 🐠

A great go to app for every snorkeler! Very easy to maneuver. Great pics and very informative!

Response from developer

Thanks Snorkelgal! Please let me know if I can improve the app in any way. :)

Great App from an Expert

I have John Hoover’s books and I use the app most because of the convenience for travel and multiple photos/videos.

A few things that would make it a 5-star app: ability to sync sightings between devices and ability to make multiple sightings (you can add notes, but it’d be better if you could enter date and place in a form as well).

Response from developer

Thanks for the suggestions. I agree it would be great to be able to sync the logbook with other devices. Unfortunately the developer says it would be time-consuming and expensive to implement—not cost-effective for a little app like this.

Needs a way to log where & when you saw each fish.

That's all.

Response from developer

Thanks for the suggestion. This feature has been added. You can now add notes to each fish in your logbook.
