No video games!
I downloaded it for video games. especially console games. But the search doesn’t work for that. Useless app for gamers.
Fantastic app for all your tracking needs
The 5.0, 5.1, and 5.2 updates have been incredible and I no longer need several apps to track my books, tv shows, music, games, and podcasts. The developer has been responsive and added features I’ve asked for too. Worth your subscription for sure.

Hard to use interface, many books can’t be matched from goodreads
Settings is buried under lists, why? And when you first open the app it advertises a bunch of new features then gives no explanation on how to use them. This app is really annoying to use. Once I finally figured out how to import goodreads, hundreds of my books did not have matches despite them being popular bestsellers from the last few years. And with these items without a match, there is no option to search for the item to match or create a custom item. It just suggests a couple items to match which are never correct.

Basic??
At its core, this is a very basic app. While it does bring all your media together in one place, it doesn’t really stand out. When you add movies, there are no community or critic reviews… just a summary and cast information. You can create “recipes” to add your own ratings and other details, but the overall experience feels limited.
The app reminds me of the early days of the App Store, when simply having the basic functionality was enough. It works, but it lacks the depth, features, and community elements that many similar apps offer today. Not worth the subscription.

Solid, some bugs
App meets my needs for the most part but something like manual sorting items might need to be looked at. It doesn’t work me.
Room for Improvement
Overall, I think the app is close to what I’ve been looking for but I feel like with many others there’s too much the app is trying to do.
I think if the app was more focused on movie night, family event planning, game night planning, and travel planning that it would elevate my experience with it. For example, I have no interest in adding “apps to check out” or “podcasts”, but what I have interest in is a better optimized planner where I can add episodes or movies we plan to watch using the app’s UI instead of manually typing things out/adding the cover art, etc. This would also create better logging since the stats don’t seem to show even when I manually log an episode.
I’ve been using notes for movie night planning for so long and I would like an easier system but right now, this app is creating more work even though I do like the overall feel to it and the ability to share the event page with family. The countdown is also nice but again, without some improvements, it’s a lot of work.

A once-great, simple app ruined by update.
The simplicity and ease of use that made me recommend this app to EVERYONE is gone. It’s a bloated mess that wants to do everything - including playing podcasts. WHY? Why would anyone use this for listening to podcasts?? Everything that made it great is gone, and the very few options they added that looks interesting is now behind a paywall.
So very sad to see a truly great and simple app get destroyed in one single update.

Almost there
EDIT: I’m really impressed to see that the developer has taken all of my points on board. Sequel’s search is still slightly better (because of the “most likely” behaviour, and the horizontal categories), and it shows better metadata like cast and crew, but almost everything else has been added. I’ll keep checking in periodically, and if the developer adds a Siri shortcut that jumps you straight to the search page with the keyboard ready to type, cast and crew meta data, and the ability to play podcasts from oldest to newest, then I’ll but a lifetime pass and switch immediately.
It was a really difficult choice for me choosing between Sofa and Sequel, but ultimately I chose Sequel because it had a snappier search and a bigger focus on counting down to release dates.
To the Sofa developer, here are the features that would convince me to buy a lifetime subscription:
1) The “pinned” widgets must include a prominent countdown to the release date (apologies if they already do, I don’t have premium so I can’t pin things)
2) There must be a quick search button that bypasses the need to specify media type, even better if you can make it an optional shortcut, or quick settings button that opens the app on a search with the keyboard ready to type.
3) Searching, should start auto-populating suggestions as you type. Overall, searching just has to be snappier tbh.
4) The pages for some media should provide a bit of meta data. I do use Sequel as a mini-IMDB. When I search for a movie or TV Show it is really helpful to have at least a list of actors and who the writers/directors are, with clickable links.
Overall Sofa is a really great app, with a good vibe, but I think Sequel slightly edges it out.

This is the perfect tool to keep track of the never ending content on my watch/read lists.
One thing I’m hoping is in the roadmap: enhanced search/search results. Right now you can search word-for-word titles-I’d be excited to see if sofa can search wider genres like anime or indie films. Remember Delicious Library?
Back in the day, there was a lovely app that allowed you to hook up a barcode scanner to your Mac and scan the barcode of your owned books, CDs, DVDs, comic books, and the like. You’d then setup databases such as IMDB, to add metadata (movie posters, director information, etc).
This app is an updated version of that, and some additional features deftly implemented. I get that a subscription model makes sense these days, though I think it’s crucial to provide a nice, add-free, free version, like they do! That is why I am glad to have updated to a subscription recently, to put some money behind a product with integrity. I wish there were more apps like this in the App Store.
I didn’t see any other apps listed under the developer, but sometimes they’re listed individually… any other associated apps by the same developer?

New update has ruined Sofa for me
It was a great app before, but now, after the most recent, big update, I can’t stand it. Way too much going on and is no longer usable for the things we used it for before. Devs, please consider rolling back this update—maybe releasing a separate app to be either the old Sofa or to be Sofa 5–you can see from the reviews that many of us feel the same way.

Bloated mess
Used the app for years. Latest update completely ruined it. I hate it now. Very clunky and hard to use now.
Essential App for my Devices
I was on the hunt for an organizer and planner where I could keep all my games, movies, podcasts, etc. To my surprise, the planner feature is genuinely so helpful, all the info is so cleanly presented! The theme options are gorgeous as well, and I love when apps are super open to customization options!
As someone who needed a place to put everything I could ever need, Sofa covers all of it.
I understand some reviews are mentioning simplicity prior to Sofa 5, or that there are too many things added now, but I personally needed everything Sofa 5 has. In my opinion, the app is simple but straightforward enough to where everything is super neatly organized. Not to mention the customer support is also incredibly helpful and responsive. I had an issue and received a swift response.
Person/people behind this app are great, UI is gorgeous, has everything you'd want in a planner and organizer for your down-times, and is overall such an essential app on all my devices. Thank you for making Sofa, it helps me more than you know. Keep up the amazing work, I'll be sticking around for many years to come! ❤️✨

Can’t Live Without It
I had no idea how much this app would improve my life. Wonderful way to organize all sorts of media and shopping lists!
Getting Better Every Day!
I rarely write app reviews, but I’m compelled to for Sofa. This is a fantastic, native app by a responsive developer who responds to feedback and is making it better with every release. I moved here from TV Time, and Sofa is so much more performant, looks nicer, and goes beyond what other apps in the space offer. Give it shot! I’m glad I did.

Flimsy
Though this should be the answer to any TV or movie tracking app, it isn’t. The user interface isn’t intuitive and even the paid version has trouble tracking certain TV shows. I’m requesting a refund.
Incomplete
I think the unfortunate part of apps like this is if the database of items you can add is incomplete, then it defeats the entire point of having a “collection” list for example.
I’ve found items in Music and Books so far that I haven’t been able to add.
Given this immediate and upfront gap I’m not sure if it makes sense to invest further time using.

Sofa 5
I originally downloaded Sofa many years ago because it did one thing well. It was a clean, minimal way to keep track of what I watched, read, or played. That simplicity was the entire appeal. It stayed out of the way and acted like a lightweight companion rather than a system I had to manage.
Sofa 5 completely abandons that philosophy.
The app now feels like it’s trying to be everything at once, and in doing so, it lost what made it valuable. A media tracker has turned into a bloated all-in-one platform with trip planning, podcast playback, AI-generated lists, stats dashboards, and a level of customization that borders on exhausting. Instead of quickly adding something to a list, I’m now confronted with decisions about tracking methods, filters, “ingredients,” layouts, and metadata.
The addition of a built-in podcast player is a good example of the problem. It’s not inherently bad, but it’s unnecessary. Most people already have a dedicated app for that. Integrating it here just adds weight and complexity to an app that used to be focused. The same applies to the planner and AI features. They feel like features built because they could be, not because they should be.
Even the organization tools, which used to be a strength, now feel overengineered. Smart Lists with dozens of filters and custom fields sound powerful, but in practice they turn a simple “what should I watch next” question into something closer to managing a database. It’s excessive for what should be a casual, low-effort experience.
There’s also a subtle shift in tone. The app now assumes you want to deeply quantify and optimize your downtime. Stats, logs, timelines, and insights are constantly surfaced. That might appeal to some users, but it changes the relationship entirely. What used to feel relaxed now feels tracked.
Yes, you can hide certain features, but that doesn’t fix the core issue. The design direction has changed. The app is no longer built around simplicity first. It’s built around capability first, with simplicity as an optional layer you have to carve out yourself.

I love the lists function of this app. The other things are done better by other apps.
This app is incredibly useful for keeping track of things I’d like to get around to later. Whenever I hear a book or movie recommendation I’d like to save, it goes into Sofa. Whenever I finally get around to it, I rate it, leave a note and save it to a relevant list. It’s great! Books and movies are in the same place and I don’t have to use GoodReads and Letterboxd to separately track it all.
I don’t need this app to also be a podcast player or event planner. I already have apps that do that really well. When I start using a downtime organizer to keep track of productivity, it begins to lose its purpose. Nothing else could make lists like this one. I only want the lists. Please, find some focus again and don’t let this app become so bloated.
