SCAM
Spruce is a scam. I hired them to do a cleaning and they completely skipped almost all of it. I even sent them photos of proof and they just pass you around to a different person every time you email them. I never got my money back or the cleaning done.
Poor Communication and Unreliable Scheduling
I used this company because they were convenient and recommended through my apartment community. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
I had a confirmed cleaning appointment and requested an additional service. At no point was I warned that making a change could result in my entire appointment being canceled. Had I known that, I never would have requested the add-on.
The cancellation left me scrambling after I had already rearranged my schedule and paid for dog daycare because pets must be out of the home during cleaning. Customer service offered no reasonable solution and simply told me my original appointment could not be restored.
The biggest issue isn’t that they couldn’t accommodate the extra service—it’s the lack of transparency. Customers deserve to know that requesting a modification could cost them their confirmed appointment. Based on this experience, I can’t recommend this company.

Horrible move out cleaning
I booked Spruce move out cleaning service for my 2 bed/bath apartment. I had the hope that it will lower the burden of cleaning before move out during a busy season. Unfortunately the quality of the service was not satisfactory at all. Dust left in various places, hair left in cabinets and drawers and parts of shelves not cleaned at all. Additionally I received a text message during the cleaning that they were not able to remove certain stains- spoiler alert, took me 5 minutes and I was able to fix that parts. In total I spend 1.5 hours cleaning on my own after the service to bring the apartment in an exceptional status. To spruce, at least I was able to get a partial refund after complains with pictures. I definitely would not recommend this company to any of my friends or family.

Truly the worst
They never show up when they’re supposed to, they never do a complete job, the communication sucks. I had a particularly useless cleaning recently - showed up 4 hours late and lied about when they showed up, stayed an hour for a premium cleaning, still had dust everywhere and my curtains hanging off the wall, etc, etc and they wouldn’t refund me, they gave me a $20 credit. I’ve used them for routine cleanings and every time I’m disappointed. I finally cancelled my subscription.

This service is hot garbage
Showed up 4 hours past the agreed upon window when nobody was home, waited 15 minutes then cancelled. Then customer service couldn’t have been worse handling the situation. Should have far better customer service at this price point.
SCAMMER ALERT
If yall are looking to hire the Spruce app to clean your home, don’t do it. I paid $200 for a deep clean and the cleaning people did not clean my house whatsoever. They left my floors sticky, they didn’t wipe down my countertops, and didn’t perform half the services the claim to provide. The only thing they did was clean the toilets. I had to come home and do an additional hour of cleaning just for my home to feel clean. Not only are their maids lazy, they are negligent. They left my door unlocked and left all my windows open. When I came home the apartment smelled like musty cigarettes. I don’t smoke, so clearly the maids were participating in activities other than cleaning my house. They left my home musty, hot and unsecured. When I complained, Spruce offered me $25 even though I provided pictures of the unclean home and they agreed the home was not clean. DO NOT HIRE SPRUCE MAIDS IF YOU WANT A CLEAN HOME. They price gouge and leave your home vulnerable to intruders.

Terrible communication and service
Terrible experience with a move-out cleaning I scheduled. I was never contacted through the app or via text to inform me that my appointment had been rescheduled due to weather. The app showed no indication of a reschedule until I reached out to customer service late in the evening on the day of the original appointment.
I was then assured the cleaning would be completed on the rescheduled date. Because of this delay, I had to request an extension on my move-out date just to allow time for the cleaning. Despite being told the crew would arrive within the proposed 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. window, no one showed up until after 6 p.m., at which point I no longer had access to my old apartment and had to cancel the service entirely.
Throughout this entire process, I had to repeatedly reach out through the app and by text just to get updates. There was no proactive communication at any point. The lack of transparency and missed commitments made it impossible to create a reliable backup plan, as I kept being promised timely service that ultimately did not happen.

Cancelled Hours Before
Scheduled days in advance and have guests arriving the next day only for them to cancel hours before and then reschedule for over a week in the future. They cited an excuse of “weather” even though it’s mid 40s and sunny out. We had a storm the weekend before and it is now nothing more than puddles on the ground here and there. I was driving all through Austin all day on business as was everyone else. Even spotted some cars branded for other in-home cleaning services. Will have to go with one of them going forward who will keep their commitments.

Rushed Service & late for 2nd chance
The first time I booked spruce, there were several check list items missed or done sloppily. Counters were still very dirty, visible grime on floors/baseboards, tvs and light fixtures were not dusted, shower grime missed, etc. When I asked for a refund, they responded with half off the next service. I decided to take it and give them another shot.
They say my pro has arrived, so I leave my unit and go to our club house which is connected to the leasing office. I get a text 2 minutes later saying leasing office is closed can you let the cleaner in. I say yes & they say meet them in the leasing office. I say I am already here and see no one. They said they were messaging them. I waited 15 min and there was no one there. I text and ask for update, they say they are texting the cleaner again. 5 more minutes pass and I let them know to cancel the cleaning and refund me.
I will not be trying spruce again. I am supper disappointed. I love a clean home & was excited to have a cleaner again. My OG unfortunately doesn’t clean homes anymore.

I had already picked up my apartment, so it was at a point where the cleaner could easily clean it when she entered the unit. I found it very odd that she was taking pictures of everything in the unit before she cleaned. She spent a lot of time on the phone and barely did anything.
She refused to clean my oven after I told her I had paid for the oven-clean add-on and said she needed to ask her manager. I then received a message from Spruce stating that if I wanted any add-ons, I had to pay for it through the app and could not ask the cleaner directly—even though I had already paid for this service beforehand, which I found very odd.
She proceeded to mop without actually cleaning the unit first, so I lifted items off the floors to allow her to mop properly. Great app, Bad delivery
The app works well and it’s nice that it connects to my apartment management so less for me to explain to the cleaners. Annoying that so many normal cleaning services are add-ons though but the price isn’t bad. But the worst part is that in my area, the cleaners do a terrible job. Services I paid extra for weren’t even attempted. All of my neighbors that have tried Spruce joke about how bad it is. Oddly, numerous people have told me their apartments were actually left dirtier than before the cleaning. For instance, one lady said her floor was covered in pet hair… she doesn’t have a pet. I’d love to use this service more frequently if quality was enhanced.

TERRIBLE
They do not stand by what they offer. I booked a cleaning move out service and they didn't even sweep or vacuum the floor. After a few emails back and forth I gave up because I realized they will do nothing to assist you with your issue. They sub out the work to people who do not care to work correct. Would highly NOT recommend.

Unprofessional and horrible service
I hired Spruce for a full cleaning and was shocked by how much was left undone that I had paid for. The cleaner left my entire master bathroom untouched, and several other tasks were missed completely or completed in a rushed manner.
When I emailed Spruce with photos, they sent a second cleaner but told her not to clean everything that was missed and then claimed everything had been completed — which simply isn’t true. If they post a rebuttal saying otherwise, that does not match the actual condition of my home after their visit.

Very disappointed in the cleaning service
It was unbelievably bad! I’m a bit short on time to be iterating on all pointers, but for an example, they used some very soapy solution to mop the floor so much so that it was sticky, very slippery and frothy even five hours after the service. To top it, seemingly the mop cloth that they used was already quite dirty and so it made the floor rather on the muddy side. Long story short, I had to cancel my work for the day, re-clean everything that they had cleaned, and hand-mop my entire floor, tile by tile, with plain water mixed with a few drops of vinegar to cut through the soap and to restore my family’s life to normal.
