The rep count and which set you are on stay readable at a glance, and you can pause or stop from the watch without reaching for your phone. Your iPhone still runs the session and still reads head motion from your AirPods, so nothing about how your reps are measured has changed. Completed sets for the day sit on the watch face as a complication.
