Doesn't Run on Desktop
This needs to be a desktop app too. Businesses use desktops, not ipads.

Very convenient
I live in an HOA and have been using the gate app for over a year now and absolutely love it. I rarely have any issues. I would recommend to anyone to make sure you save your username and password somewhere whenever you have to log back in.
I do wish the app would show a Iog with all the notifications I receive when my guests are at the the gate. I think it would be great to access the photos of the guests at the call box for security purposes.

Fails at basic security
Gates are supposed to be a security feature, so you might assume that a company that supplies an app for controlling physical security gates would be familiar with basic app security.
You’d be wrong.
• There is no way for the user to set or reset their own password in the app. You have to contact the administrator for your gate system and they create and assign you a password. Which means you’ll get a weak password that at least one other person already knows.
• You can’t generate your own gate codes. They’re also assigned by the administrator. So again, your “security” codes are de facto shared with a person outside your household from day one.
These are such basic security fails that it is shocking that such an inept company can do business in the physical security space.
I hope that the app at least communicates securely with the controller back end, but seeing these basic security face plants, I wouldn’t be surprised if they got that wrong too.

CarPlay?
The app is great works well. But can we get a CarPlay extension so we don’t have to open our phones?
Worst App in history
The retards who designed this app deserve an award for making the worst, most unreliable app in the history of mankind. It only works when you don’t need it. I suspect when these app designers aren’t sticking their fingers in their butts and then sniffing said fingers, they are finding ways to make this app worse

First ever review
Do not buy this product under any circumstances. It is a nightmare to program and navigate. I don’t care how much they say it’s better better don’t not use it. The customer support is horrible, everything is email and you have to wait for days for a response that will actually help. I’ve had several other gate operating systems that have worked flawlessly and are very user friendly. If your a gate and/or security guru you may understand how to program the system via their web browser interface but if your not an expert you will struggle. Many of the functions do not work consistently such as the open and close (kinda important for a gate) the camera ( never works) and good look finding the pictures. CellGate was the last system I used and it is far better supported and user friendly. Stay away from this.

Summit Control needs to fix a bunch of problems
The worst app I have downloaded since 2011. It logs you out frequently. God help you if you forget your username or password. It will not send you the information even though it said it did multiple times. I had to park my car on the other side of our gate and climb the fence to get to my house. If your HOA forces you to use this app fight back. No one should have to sneak into their home.

Seemless
After about two years of use, we have had zero problems with this app connecting and working properly. Gate broke once and had to make an admin change - support was efficient.
Please add shortcuts plugin!

Lacking support for app shortcut
The app works great in and of itself but adding support for app shortcuts would be extremely helpful and improve safety. It would allow us to open the gate without looking for the app on our phone while driving.
App hasn’t worked in months!
Our app to control camera and access to open/close has not been functional in months. I did the recent update but the last time I have any log activity was 3/23/22. This is not acceptable!
Have to close the app each time
Every time I send a command I have to close out of the app and open again to control. Otherwise it doesn’t work and says it’s and nothing happens. Very glitchy.

Poor interface/tech support
We replaced our property gate a month ago with a device requiring this app to work it using our phones. Until today it worked fine for us to open the gate from anywhere in the US. We weren’t happy that it didn’t have a motion sensor notification to let us know when someone pulled up to the gate but we were happy it worked to open the gate... UNTIL TODAY when my husband came home as a passenger in someone’s car and tried to open the gate with the app. It said “your session expired please log back in.” But it hadn’t allowed our phones to auto ave or auto populate the password. We tried password recovery which said it emailed a link to change the password but we never got an email. What a sham.

One small shortcoming
Love this app, but please add support for Apple Shortcuts. To simply automate the opening of the app upon arrival would be a wonderful addition to its basic functionality.

Update doesn’t include release hatch!
Great to see this app got an update. It looks amazing and works well but it doesn’t have the release hatch button to close the gate in case it stays open. That’s a big feature for me, I’d go back and give it a 5 star rating if that feature got added. Thank you!!

Hi Rigaroojohg, thanks for the review. If your referring to release latch, that feature is available on the current version. It will show under your gate control as a slider. If the gate is latched open you can simply slide the slider to the left to release the latch and close the gate. Hope that helps, thanks again for the review.
Amazing app
This 2.0 version has exceeded my expectations and not only with the ease of navigating it surprisingly takes a much clearer picture. Great job summit control. 👏
