Crashes all the time

I could never pay with this. Ended up using credit cards. The system constantly crashed when trying to pay.

Slow and expensive

The promptpay has to be topped up with foreign currency at the kbank exchange booth, not just any branch. The airport location has a terrible markup and the city locations are slightly better. After you top up and try to actually pay, it takes at least 30s to get from opening the app to actually paying because of all the loading.

You pay extra for the inconvenience, might as well just use cash.

Need to pre-load a separate card to use prompt pay

And nowhere is this made clear before you sign up for an account and navigate to the easy pay tab. It would be great if I could connect it to Apple Pay, especially since I used my Apple ID to sign up for the account. But as it is, too much hassle to use, I will stick with Baht cash. So yet another useless account sign up.

Hard to use

I agree with most people here that it took too long to get to the part that you could actually pay. It worked well with vendors in the well established mall but barely compatible with street vendors. Also not working with 7-eleven (the most important 😂) Lastly if you are outside of city center it was so hard to find the Kbank FX booth to top up. The regular Kbank branch wont top up for you and did give me a look for asking at certain branches. You will also need your passport and foreign currency to top up with semi bad rate. The Kbank fx booth search feature is also horrible!!!

Good intention poor execution

This app is a good idea but is poorly designed and barely works. It takes too long to load. Too long to then get into payments while you hold up a line hoping it will work. It does not accept personal QR codes which more vendors use than a business QR. also the fact you can ONLY load it with foreign cash currency is ridiculous. They need to redo this app completely it’s embarrassing how bad it is.

Slow and almost useless

Takes forever to open. Then you get a splash screen that takes more time. Then you enter a pin on a horribly non responsive pin pad. Then it takes a few to get you to the scan button. Then more time to process. Has anyone at TAGTHAi actually tried this in public?

Horrible

Why would someone go to the bank and set up an account for an app that is intended to avoid having to use cash with the scan and pay feature when it never works? It literally worked maybe once in every ten times I tried to use it. Most small businesses in Thailand have the QR code tied to their personal accounts and it does not work for that. So shop at the mall with this app but it doesn’t work anywhere you would want to go and experience anything remotely Thai in culture. More like scam and pay. Shame on this bank bc now I’ll have to pay another currency fee to take my money out of it.

Only exchange USD

Cant top up with thai bhat. They allow only exchange of USD and the exchange rate is very poor. This is more like a scam.

No good at all

It doesnt work 99% of the time. Only works with certain merchants like starbucks. Its very slow to process and load. The exchange-rate to buy it is not very good either. Ill just stick to my credit card for now

Do not use this app for paying with qr

TAGTHAi is practically unusable for its main purpose — digital payments. Nearly every attempt to pay a merchant using PromptPay or QR scanning fails with an error code (0029). This defeats the entire point of using the app.

Worse, the banking partner behind TAGTHAi, Kasikorn Bank, engages in predatory practices. They’ll refuse card payments and demand cash — completely unreasonable for travelers who rely on ATMs, not piles of local currency. Even more frustrating, if you try to convert Thai baht back to your home currency, they’ll first exchange it and then charge an extra fee to convert it again to your actual currency. It’s an unnecessary, expensive loop.

On top of that, the process to even get the app working is slow and unnecessarily complicated. Avoid this app unless you want to waste time, overpay, and end up using cash anyway. Total fail.

Scam for exchange

They dont let you top up THB that you have , they want you to exchange usd at their kiosk only
So they gove you worse rate
So what is the point of having the card - i dont recommend them at all

Massive waste of time

The app is great and useful-ish on it’s own but topping up is a nightmare and we already converted our money, they wanted foreign money which we didn’t have, there’s no way around it and half the banks don’t have access it’s very specific KBanks with questionable exchange rates.

Needs way more work

Downloaded it after seeing on social media the hype to get QR code payments but it’s not worth… just yet… I’ve had it for 3 days and the QR code only works in some places not all, BTS stations to purchase tickets it works but that’s the only constant i had. top up you have to go to a KB bank ( couldn’t find a way to just transfer money into the card) the exchange rate was low at the time we got the card ( not sure if you can just transfer Thai Bhat into the card) Also to withdraw money without a fee was only through their own KBank atms. Getting my the app to load is really laggy, it’s quicker to just hand over cash and get on with ur day.
The last 72 hours when ever I’ve gone to buy food or drinks from a street vendor or even restaurants, I’ve checked if the QR code works before ordering and honestly it’s limited the options and made it less convenient. One restaurant has 4 QR codes and luckily 1 worked and it seemed to be the newest one so not sure if venders need to have a new QR printed or the app just needs to be updated

Fantastic app!

We had a whole day tour. Riding tukuk, visiting temples, grand palace, boat ride and going around BKK. We also visited the tallest building in BK, followed by a lovely foot massage. Everything was easy- just QR code that we needed throughout. Amazing app- this should be rolled out more!!

Needs work.

The app itself is very good. Easy to use. However the itinerary and current establishments need a lot of work. We wasted so much time travelling to each establishment that we barely had time at them to enjoy it. To make this more enjoyable you need to figure out an itinerary that is closer together. We also wanted to try the sky bar places (all were either unavailable or closed). We changed to just a simple dinner and when we finally made it to the restaurant they told us we were too late which was really disappointing.
