App does not work

Downloaded, signed up, and then the app doesn’t do anything. I needed an errand run and when I click on errand the app doesn’t nothing at all. So I clicked on other icons and they don’t work either. Very disappointing that I gave my email away for more garbage that I cannot use.

Hundreds More to Repair for a terrible paint job

I’m reaching out because I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Taskrabbit, both with the quality of the work performed in my home and with how difficult it was to get the company to resolve the situation.

I hired a painter through Taskrabbit and paid approximately $422 for the job. I chose Taskrabbit because I believed I was hiring through a platform where I could expect professional-quality work and have some protection if something went wrong.

Unfortunately, the finished work was nowhere near what I would consider professional.

I’ve attached photos showing some of the issues. There were extremely uneven paint lines, dark paint extending onto the adjacent light-coloured walls, poor cutting around the ceiling, paint left on and around my baseboard heater, and multiple areas that were visibly unfinished or poorly executed. Paint also ended up on my ceiling and required corrective work.

This wasn’t simply a matter of me not liking the finished appearance. The work actually had to be repaired.

I ended up paying another professional painter $300 to correct the work, on top of the $422 I had already paid through Taskrabbit. I also had to purchase additional paint and supplies to fix the problems, adding even more to my out-of-pocket costs.

What made the experience even more frustrating was how incredibly difficult it was to get meaningful assistance from Taskrabbit.

I contacted them repeatedly, sent multiple emails and provided photographs documenting the work. At one point, I had to go through their automated support system simply to try to reach an actual person. One of their own support representatives eventually apologized that I had been forced to follow up multiple times without receiving a response.

Throughout the entire process, I remained respectful. I wasn’t asking for anything excessive. I explained what happened, provided photographs, documented the additional costs I incurred and simply asked Taskrabbit to help make the situation right.

Taskrabbit eventually escalated my complaint and reviewed the additional photographs. Their support team was also made aware that I had spent an additional $300 to have the work corrected.

Despite this, Taskrabbit told me they would not provide a direct refund. Instead, they offered me a 50% credit toward a future Taskrabbit booking.

After this experience, I understandably do not feel comfortable hiring another Tasker simply so I can use a credit. I therefore made what I felt was a very reasonable request: if Taskrabbit was already willing to compensate me for 50% of the job, could they simply return that amount to my original credit card instead so I could put it toward the $300 I had already spent repairing the work?

They refused.

That is what I find particularly frustrating. The only compensation being offered requires me to use Taskrabbit again.

At this point, I paid $422 for the original Taskrabbit job, another $300 for professional corrective work, plus the cost of additional paint and supplies. Despite photographs documenting the workmanship and my attempts to resolve the issue respectfully, Taskrabbit’s proposed resolution is a credit that requires me to use their service again.

I believe this raises a larger consumer issue about what protection customers actually receive when hiring home-service professionals through platforms such as Taskrabbit, particularly when a customer believes they are paying for professional work but can be left paying hundreds of dollars more to correct it.

I have extensive documentation available, including photographs of the work, screenshots of my conversations with Taskrabbit support, their escalation team’s decision, proof of the original $422 charge, and documentation of the additional costs I incurred correcting the work.

Absolutely scam

I chose a plumber with 560+ 5 star reviews for a few soldering pipes. He showed up on time, but refused to do the job, he first said it’s very complicated, I was stunned , I saw plumbers cut and coupling and soldering in few minutes each. Then he said that he can cut it and I will soldering it by myself. What a total joke! He said you should cancel the job and get my money back. But later on I found out the company charges a hour once tasker shows up. The rep said that they can issue credit but no money back. Even though the work had not been done. The plumber even told me that they don’t care these merely $100. They just want to use task rabbit to access clients and later on can deal with them directly.

Taskers always cancel

I’ve had three taskers cancel on me last minute within the last 1.5 years. The app does nothing to compensate the person in need like even offering a discount for the bother. One of the times the tasker canceled within 5 minutes of the time they were supposed to show, and they weren’t local to me so they knew they weren’t coming way before that. I live in a fairly larger town so the options are there, it’s just that the app really doesn’t care if the taskers cancel on you, there are other similar apps I’d rather use at this point, or just call local handyman companies that have better customer service policies. Absolute trash of an app and a waste of my time. Would not recommend.

Unethical business

This company charged me for services not performed and refused to refund the full amount after I explained the situation and they would only refund 50% of my money. This is the worst business practice I have ever dealt with and I have reported them to Apple, to the BBB and posting this on the review to be seen as they refused to review the communication record as well as lying about what service I requested. I will continue to warn everyone about this company. Do not use this app or sign any policy with this company that in fine print states you will pay a deposit for services regardless of facts if the service was rendered at all or not what you actually requested at all. These are unethical business practices and BBB will not hold them accountable! Only The Power of People can!

Scam

I needed 3 lights put up and the app charged my credit card over $80 for a deposit and then the tasker declined the project then I chose another tasker and the app charged me another $85 but didn’t refund the other amount. There is no way to get in touch with them. Very shady way to do business. After further research this company doesn’t exist anymore. It’s definitely a scam to charge your credit card.

Trouble With Finding A Tasker

I don’t like the fact that I would choose the person and the time only for the tasters to tell me that they are not available at the time. I’ve had to cancel and get refunded three time in 24 hours

It sucks

I’ve tried to use it a few times, but I never seems to have the options that I need right now I’m trying to move and I just need someone to help unload but it wants me to put in both addresses, which is just going to confuse the person helping me. It only needs to be at one address they need more options That makes sense with what you’re trying to do.

Useless Taskers

Time wasting, lying about prices and availability. Useless

You have to pay just to TRY to schedule each time

I’ve paid $60 3 times just to try to get someone to come fix my door. Every time they couldn’t do it and now Taskrabbit says that I have to wait seven days to see any of that money come back to my account. Why on earth would they not just send them the money once they schedule it??? you have to pay them $60 every single time just to see if your tasker is available. That’s gotta be the dumbest approach to this I could ever think of.

App won't start

Signed up, was looking through taskers, about to request one, and suddenly the app is just a blank white screen. Closed/opened, deleted and reinstalled, still a blank white screen. Same with the moving/delivery app.

Watch their fees

One star for sure. Use thumbtack instead. Task rabbit charges a pretty significant hourly fee on top of the technician's hourly rate. Even with that I said fine. Then I hired a guy and was charged a one hour deposit. He was going to do a job that day. I was only able to chat with the guy after my one hour deposit was taken. Turns out he couldn't do the job. So I canceled. Task rabbit said they will be charging me a one hour fee because I canceled within 24 hours of the job. Of course it was, it was a same day job that he couldn't do for the price quoted. He was fine with me canceling, no issues. Task rabbit just kept the money for no reason.

Necessary app, but it doesn't work.

I would have liked the app to work because the concept of what it offers is ideal, but the truth is they don't care whether you, as a customer, get the task you’re requesting and expecting done. I paid in advance and requested a cleaning task twice, and both times the person stood me up. They simply didn't show up, and when I tried to contact customer support, it was very difficult because I kept getting answered by artificial intelligence.
They hold almost $60 for each request and only return it to you after 3 or 4 days. I was desperate because I really needed the cleaning done, but it just didn't happen. To make matters worse, there is no way for us as customers to file a complaint about the people who stood us up—there is no feature to leave a comment or review. So it’s frustrating.
This makes me think that the app doesn't background-check the taskers they offer, meaning we have no idea who is coming into our homes. I don't think they have any verification process for the people working on their platform.

A Platform That Takes Too Much Control

I used Taskrabbit extensively and at first it seemed like a great way to connect customers with local professionals. Unfortunately, after relying on the platform more seriously, I became very disappointed with how it operates.

The biggest problem is how much control Taskrabbit has over the relationship between the customer and the service provider. A Tasker can spend months building a strong reputation, completing jobs, earning good reviews, and depending on the platform for income — yet a cancellation, dispute, or account issue can suddenly affect their ability to get work.

The policies often feel disconnected from how service businesses actually operate. Customers can change schedules, modify the scope of work, cancel appointments, or raise disputes, while the Tasker may still be the one facing consequences.

Support can also be frustrating. Instead of feeling like there is a fair process where both sides are carefully considered, it can feel like you are constantly trying to prove what happened by sending screenshots, timelines, and explanations.

This system does not just hurt Taskers. When experienced professionals stop trusting the platform or leave it entirely, customers lose access to good service providers too.

Taskrabbit is useful as a marketplace, but I would never recommend depending on it as the foundation of a service business. The platform owns the customer relationship, controls your access to work, and can change your situation very quickly.

After my experience, I would rather hire professionals directly or build direct relationships instead of relying heavily on Taskrabbit.

1 star until Taskrabbit provides better protection for Taskers, more balanced dispute resolution, and policies that reflect the reality of running a service business.

App not great

Love TaskRabbit but the app keeps freezing and just showing a blank white screen. The only thing that fixes it is to reboot phone.

Horrible Support

I had an issue with my task and support said they would provide a $35 credit on my next task. I got a new task, didn’t see any credit and reached out to support. I was told it would show when it was time to pay and that if it didn’t show to reach out to support. It was time to pay and no credit. I reached out to support again, providing screenshots of the last conversations and was told no credit would be applied on the new task but will be on the next task. Solid app but horrible support and lied to me despite me providing proof of past conversations.

Won't Send Push Notifications

The app never seems to send push notifications for messages from taskers. You can test push notifications from settings to your heart's content, but despite the tests working, actual notifications about messages never get sent and you end up missing important messages unless you religiously check your email.

Last minute cancellations

Taskers postponed job multiple times and then cancelled after they were supposed to turn up. Completely messed us around and in one case delayed other workmen. No way to leave feedback in any of these cases. Would never try to use again

Taskers Keep Canceling

Very Disappointed — Taskers Keep Canceling

This was my first time using this app, and unfortunately, the first two taskers I booked both canceled at the last minute. Taskers need to take their commitments more seriously because customers are setting aside their time and making plans around these appointments.

How can I rely on this app if taskers can repeatedly cancel at the last minute? I’ve already wasted a significant amount of time trying to get a simple task completed. Very disappointing experience for a first-time user.
