Waste of time

Drove hundreds of miles across Texas, spent hours in lines, spent a small fortune on bbq only to have the app log me out and delete all of my stamps

Needs Updating

This app needs an update. Not sure it’s keeping up with the places Daniel Vaughn has reviewed recently.

Texas Monthly should also consider creating a Taco Finder based on José R. Ralat reviews

Great tracker

Nice way to track my visits / read reviews so I know what to order

Still won’t open

Been

Please fix it.

Great BBQ Finding App

If you love Texas BBQ, you know Texas Monthly is a trusted voice in this ever-evolving, fast-moving food scene. This app is great for finding that smoked meat goodness, Texas style, when you travel. My favorite feature is probably the built-in, region-specific guides with maps that use GPS from your phone to get you close.

I took off 1 star because they want a subscription to submit written reviews. With Yelp and TripAdvisor you only need an account to submit written reviews, so I’m confused as to why TM thinks users should pay for that opportunity.

UPDATE IS AMAZING!!

Wow. I had this app back when it first came out, and all of the missing features have been added. You can save your favorites, map out plans to chow down, and see other users’ ratings. Love it.

Excellent reference for locals and visitors

States it’s a reader’s work in progress but seems no way to suggest a local (or not) BBQ favorite by the neighbors

Our faviorate is Chasin Tail in Lake Dallas just off I35E

Helped me find some great ‘cue!

Just found 2M in San Antonio on the way home from the beach - amazing! Great to see proximity and Top 50 mark in an easy list.

App won’t load any places, map is blank and won’t search.

Newest version and location on too. Have good LTE signal.

BBQ App

Pretty useless. No way to tell where places listed are in relation to user.

Smoked App

Doesn’t work. No mapping feature for locations near your current location. The back button doesn’t work. The reviews are outdated. No photos or places for viewers comments. Bring back the old app

What happened?!?

Update is horrible. It use to tell you what BBQ was actually near you. Now it just gives you a random list of places that are hours away from where you are. Old version featured reviews from patrons which was nice, it was good to hear what locals liked. New version is kind of useless. Seems like they forgot to finish the app.

Pretty much worthless

The map misses many of the best BBQ joints in my area and, after reading the reviews I think they’re about as pointless as the map. Deleted shortly after installing it.

Good, could be much better

Glad to finally see an update, but boy this needs some simple improvements like location awareness to sort by what is near you.

Crashes with no updates

I used to use this app a lot over a year ago but over the past year (as a lot of others have stated) it crashes 100% of the time when using the search function. Without the search function, the app is useless.

Poorly maintained app.

Very poorly maintained app unfortunately. Crashes every time you use the search function. Hasn't had any kind of software update for over a year: September 1, 2015. Very bad. If Texas Monthly has no interest in regular maintenance/ app software updates for the BBQ review app, TM should trash and redesign this app from the ground up, fix the problems with this current app or eliminate it all together.

Worse than bottom shelf BBQ sauce

This app is worse than driving for hours only to arrive late & strike out on brisket. Crashes more than a penny stock. Reviews are as out of date as a topical reference to the magical talents of GOB Bluth. But where did the lighter fluid come from? Not this app.
