Potential

I’m enjoying the app so far but there are 3 areas for improvement. 1, no profile photos, really? It’s a social app. 2, must add the ability to add manual measurements. The app is always noticeably off from my timegrapher readings. There’s real value in having accurate data where I am tracking my collection. Lastly, price is a bit high for the current offering

Not worth the price at all.

Failed to work several times on different watches. Repeat attempts to measure in a quiet environment, both on and off the wrist.

Doesn’t seem accurate

Doesn’t seem to be that accurate when predicting the time loss so I doubt how accurate the beat error and amplitude measures are. I have two watches, according to this app, ones loses almost a minute a day and the other less than 10 seconds. However the one that supposedly loses almost a minute a day is actually more accurate. The watches are synchronised to the ‘true’ time and checked on a weekly basis. Both are checked with the app at the same time and same location, so any environmental factors will be the same for both.

bait and switch

You have to sign up for an account with them before they let you know you have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee. It’s deceptive, annoying, untrustworthy. Disgusting sales tactics.

What happened?

The app was running really well for the few months I had it, but now it keeps giving me the intro screen like I just downloaded it, and then when I try to log in with my existing ID, it times out, and the app never opens.

FAQ

What does tickIQ do?

tickIQ is a professional-grade tool designed for watch enthusiasts. It allows you to measure your mechanical watch's accuracy, track how often you wear each watch, and predict when your timepieces might need servicing. The app also offers features for checking the condition of used or vintage watches and creating beautiful images of your collection.

How does the timegrapher feature work?

The timegrapher feature uses your iPhone's microphone to listen to the ticks of your mechanical watch. By holding the watch near your phone, the app can measure accuracy (seconds per day), beat error, and amplitude in about 30 seconds. This provides professional-grade measurements without the need for expensive external hardware.

Is tickIQ free to use?

The app is free to download and includes one-time in-app purchases and subscriptions. While you can access core features, certain advanced functionalities or premium content may require a purchase or subscription to unlock.

What types of watches are compatible with tickIQ?

The timegrapher feature is compatible with all mechanical watches, including automatic and hand-wound movements from major brands like Rolex, Tissot, Seiko, and Patek Philippe. It supports both vintage and modern models. However, it is not compatible with quartz or digital watches.

How can tickIQ help me manage my watch collection?

tickIQ helps you manage your collection by automatically tracking which watches you wear most often, creating a visual diary of your wear habits, and providing insights into seasonality trends. The app can also predict when your watches may need servicing, helping you avoid costly repairs and maintain your collection's value.
